President Trump sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Thursday informing her that he will postpone her planned 7-day overseas trip to Brussels, Egypt and Afghanistan — presumably by denying her the use of military aircraft as transport — as a result of the ongoing government shutdown, which is currently in its 27th day.

The big picture: On Wednesday, Pelosi sent Trump a letter asking him to delay his State of the Union address until the shutdown is resolved, citing security concerns. Trump used the same reasoning in his letter, and told Pelosi it would be "her prerogative" if she wished to fly commercial.

Yes, this news made my day. Truly awesome move by Trump. It's about time these two faced bastards like Pelosi get a taste of what the average American worker goes through with these shutdowns.

I'm no fan of Trump but I find Pelosi far more repugnant. This was MOST amusing to me when I read about it. She thought she'd be "cute" with the SOTU, which would cost almost nothing additional (since her Royal Lowness already has plenty of security in the Capitol), while her trip would actually indeed encumber a great deal of funds.

I think the democrats are just so used to bullying the republicans that they are used to getting away with whatever hissy fit they try to pull, and one thing I do like about Trump is that he pushes it right back in their faces.
