Helping others during TSHTF

I've been thinking a lot about this, but don't have any good solutions.

Basically, I know people that have a $700 a month fancy truck payment, yet only a few days at most of food in their homes. My vehicle is 25 years old paid off, and I have 6 months or more of food. I should have more food. These are the folks that worry me.

This pisses me off. I know what would happen in an emergency, people are going to start panicking and food will be an issue. My thoughts? If you can afford a $700 truck payment, to drive something nice and fancy, and impress others....yet don't bother to drop $100 on 50lbs of rice and beans for your very survival....I can't help you.

I've decided that for 30 days, I'll trade for things, but not give them away. If you want what I've got, but nothing to trade, I have guns and you'll have to kill me to get at it. You might get hurt. You might win, but God will ensure justice in the afterlife.

If after 30 days I'm alive, and others stayed alive, I figure we can work together at that point.

If I am wrong in my thinking, please let me know.

If at all possible avoid contact as much as possible. 'Honest' people will no longer be honest.

Some people be SO desperate they will call your bluff if you draw down on them. Are you ready for that? (a close muzzle blast from a .357, close enough to blow out an eardrum, should do the trick - at least one would like to think so)

Yeah, I'm ready for that. I'm at peace with this life, and look forward to the next adventure after this.

I do plan on avoiding contact and just keeping to myself if SHTF, but the problem still is people starving dying of thirst just a few days into the event. It goes against our nature, to not want to help them.

This is why I came up with a 30 day rule. No help, but trade. Hard fast rules to live by, give peace of mind. It might not even be a fair trade, but I'll help someone out who's willing to part with something to get something. IE, "not entitled" to anything.

I'm not worried about the mostly brown population. They have plenty of beans and rice, plus, they are used to hard work in the fields. They know, hard times, what it's like.

I have thought about it quite a bit. I live far out in the country, but not far enough. The cities will be hellholes. It all depends on what kind of collapse, as to what to expect and for how long. Big families, such as Amish have, should come through ok. You need people to help watch each other's back. Most of us are spread out and therefor susceptible to being raided. The problem comes when you are confronting somebody and someone else flanks you or comes at your rear. There will be a lot of hungry people regardless of what kind of collapse we have. I think it will be a monetary collapse.

Heads up, folks. In my opinion, it would be wise to freshen up the preps in the next few months. This is just my opinion, not based upon anything. A few extra rolls of TP, or paper towels, stashed away is a good thing.

it depends how how far you are aware from the urban centers

if you are 30 miles out you will only smell the death and decay

most people cant walk 3 street length block with all the bells and whistles.

then there are people like me.

I now have to take cardiac meds for the rest of my life.

If I miss a medication time my heart litterally starts pounding and I start sweating like a sailor in the boiler room.

medication dependent people will not be long for this world.
