I've seen little bits re the impending #libracoin (https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&vertical=news&q=%23libracoin&src=tyah) on twatter; but Rothschild's "The Economist" spin & de facto advertising, is obviously a must read.
In other news, BTC's >$9K again, which we'd have to go back ~1.5 year since we've seen before, IE the big crash +/- New Years 2018.
https://www.coindesk.com/price/bitcoin
I search for sites which chart BTC & Co, & it seems there's a conspiracy where they all offer the same time spans between 1h & 1y, then they just jump to "All." WTF, I wanna see 2y, 3y, etc... can't find that! Forcing me to view All obscures the time frame I wanna see, with all the pre-2017 years it traded < $1K; then the parabolic spike of 2017 hoses the whole chart. Would also like the option of logarithmic scaling, but that aint happening either. :(

I suppose that means its also "GREEN" and pre-mined?
When it comes to cryptos I immediately turn into a climate change advocate.
They waste vast amounts of electricity to mine adding extensively to a TREMENDOUS carbon footprint that will engulph the ENTIRE PLANET in flames!!!

Paying this ransom is only going to promote more hacking for ransom. This is the second case of ransom being paid to hackers (Valdez, AK).
Bitcoin is the tool of criminals. It will be interesting to see how the government handles crypto's if this keeps up.
Florida city agrees to pay hackers $600,000 in bitcoin to get its computer files back

Everyone knows that crime doesn’t pay, or at least that’s what we’re all led to believe. For hackers who broke into the computer systems of a Florida city a few weeks back, crime seems to be paying rather well, and the local government has agreed to pay the hefty sum of $600,000 to regain access to its own files.
As AP reports, the saga began three weeks ago when a hacker or team of hackers gained access to the government computer systems of Riviera Beach, Florida. The hackers encrypted the city’s files, holding them for ransom and demanding a huge chunk of cash. This week, the city council voted unanimously to pay the hackers in order to regain access to the files.
This is a classic case of ransomware, where a hacker gains access to a computer or computer system via some underhanded means — sometimes sketchy links in emails or malware-laced downloads — and holds the owner’s most important files for ransom. It’s a growing trend, and hackers are increasingly targeting large companies and governments who they believe will fork over huge sums of money to regain control of their files.
In the case of Riviera Beach, the city’s records weren’t the only aspects of their computer systems that were compromised. The city also reportedly had issues with its email and payment system, and even local emergency dispatchers were locked out of their computers.
The hackers, hoping to cover their tracks as best they can, demanded to be paid via cryptocurrency. In this case, $600,000 worth of bitcoin. A spokesperson for the city said that they are proceeding with the payment on the advice of consultants, but there’s still no guarantee that the city will be able to retrieve its files.
While ransomware attacks do often result in payment and then the return of file access, some hackers choose to go an even darker route and refuse to unlock the encrypted files after being paid. In some cases, the files are lost forever.

The coincidence seems a bit far fetched, absolutely. Of course it is only logical that now when cryptocurrency tech has evolved over the last 10 years, that the two merge. However I have a feeling that it isn’t the US government that is running the show and who are in control, more probable it is the people behind the government, who used its resources to start of the projects with spyware and crypto-traceable currencies, who later decided to privatize to their own children the profits.
One of the biggest holders of bitcoins is the vinkelvoss twins who are said to have created Facebook. They invested their rather meager settlement with Suckerberg (I think it was $50 million), in bitcoins at least 5 years ago, and today its worth billions, I think they got tipped off where the money would be, as compensation. Wouldn’t be surprised if they make a deal and get back into the Faceboot-Libra fold, a bit like Steve Jobs came back and saved Apple, after being out for many years. We are after all suckers for epic returns.

Aha, just googled winklevoss and Libra and I got this article...
https://www.ccn.com/crypto/bitcoin-billionaires-author-zuck-is-trolling-winklevoss-twins-with-libra/2019/06/25/
What are the odds? At the same time winklevosses launch their crypto-exchange GEMINI, Zuckerberg announces Libra. Another coincidence? Now I am pretty sure they will merge, probably after some PR-enhancing American Wrestling. This is just a show to entertain us while the beast is about to rape us.

I think Libra could be a success, if 1) They’ll allow easy change from crypto and fiat to libra with very small or no fees, and 2) if they get most online shops to accept it for payment. Both needs to be fulfilled.
