Heads up from CA, another issue to struggle with...
Denatured Alcohol is no long available to purchase in CA. I've been following this issue for quite some time.
I live on a boat. My boat stove to cook, runs on denatured alcohol. The boat is in CA, I am in CA, and now denatured alcohol can NOT be purchased in CA.
I have enough fuel to cook for at least 6 months, so I'm not sweating yet. But, I live in a state where they are denying me the ability to cook meals for myself. Unbelievable.

So WTF is the basis for this ban by your nanny masters??

I figure the only way to remain free is to accept that I'm a criminal in CA.
Now, I'm looking at being a bootlegger. Making runs to Nevada to sneak in denatured alcohol into CA....just so I can cook a can of chili. You can't make this shit up.
I may as well sneak in a few high cap mags during my trips to NV.

I can't find any legit reason online. It's like the issue doesn't even exist.

Here is a hint. Buy Everclear and pee in it. It will be denatured then. Or you might just burn it as is.

Not even state actors can explain this ban...how asinine is that??

That's a bad hint, and a piss poor idea. Everclear is expensive (and also not available in CA). Cheaper to become a bootlegger. I expect more out of you, ziero. You need to step up your game when giving "hints".

There's a lot going on in CA that seems to be off the books. Little attacks, such as denatured alcohol bans, to bigger ones such as the power outages.
Lot's of folks filling up gas cans here.

Another reason not to be in California.
You can't use white gas?

I probably could, but can't afford $13 a quart for a long term solution. I picked up a 5 gallon pail of Denatured Alcohol for $55, just today. That's $11 a gallon, about $3 dollars a quart. That's the last of it, for denatured alcohol in CA for us to buy here.

$52 bux a gallon is crazy expensive. So how long will 5 gallons last you Pete? In comparison in costs is propane an option?

I'd have to buy a new stove/oven to use propane. The whole reason I bought this alcohol stove is because it will last forever, solid stainless steel, no moving parts, etc. It's a great little stove. Paid about $1200 for it new 10 years ago, still works as new today.
5 gallons will probably last me 4-5 months. I never once even thought that denatured alcohol would disappear off the shelves, unless we had a SHTF situation. Now, it's gone here.
I'm researching alternative fuels. I've read you can use ethanol fireplace fuel with the stove, but that's crazy expensive too. I've got time to figure this out, if anything I'll plan a trip to nevada and buy up a bunch, start a life as a criminal bootlegger.
