bloomberg business tv channel just featured the colored chap ()\ in charge of econ development for liberia
he reported that 64% of the population {--->) practices open defecation - so they are pitiful and need help >:(
he then revealed his strategy to turn the country around. he needs a billion investor shekels to sell liberian water to its neighbors. he added that liberia is a water-rich country in the region
water rich and 64% open defecation? how :|~

64% of the population practices open defecation I see only two conclusions from this. One, they don't understand that pooping on the sidewalk is a bad idea. Two, they do understand that dropping dirt snakes on the sidewalk is a bad idea, but they don't care. Either way, I don't see the upside for them.

it's their preferred lifestyle. billions in aid.....spent elsewhere
https://www.unicef.org/liberia/water-sanitation-and-hygiene
Abundant in rivers, rainforests, mangroves and swamps, Liberia is one of the wettest countries in the world. But it lacks in infrastrucutre and services to reach everyone with safe drinking water.
All in all, less than 10 per cent of Liberians have access to safely managed drinking water and sanitation services, according to the JMP 2017.

https://qz.com/africa/1649900/how-liberia-was-damaged-by-too-much-foreign-aid/
Two violent civil wars in Liberia killed a quarter million people between 1989 and 2003 and destroyed the West African country’s economy. A massive influx of foreign aid followed that turmoil, ushering in a period of relative peace and stability. Yet Liberia remains among the world’s poorest countries.
In large part due to the foreign aid influx, its gross domestic product ballooned from $748 million in 2003 to $3.3 billion in 2017
