From Wiki:
Jim Roth is an American politician (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_the_United_States) from the state of Oklahoma (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma). A Democrat (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Party_(United_States)), Roth was appointed by Republican Governor Mary Fallin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Fallin) to serve on the Oklahoma State Election Board (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_State_Election_Board) as the panel's lone Democrat. As of September 2011, the Governor's appointment of Roth was awaiting confirmation by the Oklahoma Senate (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_Senate). He was rejected by the Republican-controlled Senate.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Roth_(politician)#cite_note-1) Previously, Roth served as one of three members of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_Corporation_Commission) from June 2007 through January 2009. He had been appointed to the seat by Governor of Oklahoma (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Governor_of_Oklahoma) Brad Henry (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brad_Henry).
Prior to his statewide positions, Roth had served as an Oklahoma County (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_County,_Oklahoma) Commissioner (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/County_commission), a post to which he had been elected in 2002 and re-elected in 2006.
Born in Prairie Village, Kansas (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prairie_Village,_Kansas), Roth attended Shawnee Mission East High School (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawnee_Mission_School_District), Kansas State University (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_State_University), and Oklahoma City University School of Law (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_University_School_of_Law). He then went on to work as a Chief Deputy and Attorney to the Oklahoma County Commission and the Oklahoma County Clerk.
Roth is openly gay (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay) and was the first ever openly LGBT (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT) person to hold a statewide elected office in Oklahoma.[2] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Roth_(politician)#cite_note-victoryfund-2)
In his bid to serve out the last two years of the corporation commission term to which he'd been appointed, Roth was defeated 52%-48% by Republican Dana Murphy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dana_Murphy).[3] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Roth_(politician)#cite_note-KTEN-3)
Roth endorsed the MAPS 3 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolitan_Area_Projects_Plan)[4] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Roth_(politician)#cite_note-4) proposal on the December 8, 2009 ballot in Oklahoma City.[5] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Roth_(politician)#cite_note-5)
