Iran is safe from a war until newer weapons come online to knock out the Air Defenses, which are nearly impenetrable now. If Iran is smart, they would develop their own S-500s or buy them from Russia to keep them safe.

Then the defenses are the Ballistic missiles and Anti-ship missiles which Iran has in the tens of thousands.

Iran is roughly four times the size of Iraq, and the terrain is much more challenging. Not only that, Iran has been preparing for war with the Great Satan for 40 years, by now they have several thousand anti-ship missiles. There's no way a flattop will survive in the Persian Gulf in a war with Iran.

I forgot, so remind me again...did we *win* the war in Afghanistan?? And correct me if I'm wrong but aren't Afghanistan and Iran just about socio-economically equivalent?

Bottom line: The Great Satan won't be going to war with Iran.

Just saw this post MR. I don't know what kind of foolishness the US will try. Do not be surprised if we do indeed attack Iran. I agree that there is no way we try any sort of ground war. Weather we can damage them more than they can damage us is debatable also. All they need to do is close off the straight of Hormuz and everything goes to hell. I disagree. Fracking is a very temporary thing. The production spikes and then goes down very quickly. They may come up with some other technology though. I do agree with you that we are only there to do Israel's dirty work. We (Corporatocracy) do want to control the oil in the region.
