Right now hospitals, clinics, etc. in the USA have started rationing their N95 masks. That's because their suppliers are informing them they (the suppliers) have no idea when they will be able to deliver their orders for N95 masks. Guess who has probably soaked up all N95 mask production for the next couple of months (that's right, Uncle Satan). N95 masks are still available on feebay for somewhat reasonable costs (considering they surged in price then came back down). I predict the widespread individually-held supply of those N95 masks will evaporate in just a few days once everyone discovers they need one and they will become exorbitantly priced/unavailable. As an example today on feebay a box of ten 3M 8210V (vented) N95 masks sold at auction for ~$27 which is about half the price the very same mask has been selling for on average a couple of weeks ago. This is the calm before the storm, get those items nailed down before it's too late.

I recommend the 3M N100 mask (tech support guy at 3M made that recommendation to me), those are running ~$20-$25 on feebay but will last weeks if you take care of them. There are also the 3M N99 masks rated FFP3, those are the 9332+ masks and I like them better than the N100 masks as the 9332+ masks work better with goggles. The 9332+ masks have been continually going up and I noticed a spike in prices this morning. IMO the 9332+ masks are the best value. And speaking of goggles the best ones I'm seeing available are the 3M 91252 goggles. It's just a matter of time before prices skyrocket if even available at any price.

Lysol! Lots and lots of Lysol! And spray bottles if not a pump up sprayer or two.

Hibaclens surgical scrub, good stuff. Can be found of feebay for <$45/gallon.

Alcohol based hand cleaner.

Nitrile gloves.

Tyvek hooded coveralls - I doubt there's generally a need for these however I'm betting this item evaporates very soon as well. Can be had by the case of 25. Better to have it and not need it...

Everything you need to hole up in your abode for at least 3-4 weeks.

Those won't last. I predict in six weeks you won't be able to buy even the most economical mask, when you can find them, for less than $20 each. (I hope I'm wrong.) As I mentioned, distributors have been telling end users they have no idea when they will have them back in stock.

I only use it when I feel something coming on. It usually happens after a sneeze which leaves either my throat or sinuses feeling compromised. Then I take 1 tsp held under the tongue for 30 seconds then swallowed. It seems to work very well. A 16oz bottle lasted me several years.

Here's what I've done to prepare for that eventuality:



Start taking Vitamin C (https://www.amazon.com/Ester-Bioflavonoids-Bogo-1000-Total/dp/B004IPAFJY) and Vitamin D3 (https://www.amazon.com/NatureWise-Vitamin-Function-Cold-Pressed-Gluten-Free/dp/B00GB85JR4) for general immune system support
Purchase a thermometer. I got a temple thermometer (https://www.amazon.com/Veridian-09-330-Temple-Touch-Thermometer/dp/B0043DKT92) so it can be shared between people more easily with less risk of cross infection. I also got a standard thermometer (https://www.amazon.com/s?k=adult+thermometer&ref=nb_sb_noss) to get a second reading for more accuracy.
Oximeter with respitory rate (https://www.amazon.com/Tomorotec-Fingertip-Oximeter-Saturation-Batteries/dp/B07TYKFYQL). This tells you the oxygen saturation of the blood. Basically, its the number one thing to pay attention to to alert you to pneumonia issues. It should read greater than 95% oxygen saturation if you are healthy. Potentially a bit less if you are a smoker. If it gets below 90%, you are in trouble.
Print out a hard copy of First Case of 2019 Novel Coronavirus in the United States (https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2001191). Study it, and keep it ready to understand what the process of the disease is. It seems benign for about 10 days. Then you get hit hard with pneumonia.
Guaifenesin (https://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Signature-NNuBhn-Guaifenesin-Expectorant/dp/B075PGMJWX). This helps you cough up mucus by watering it down and loosening it up. This was given to the patient described in the paper above. Critical to get through the pneumonia.
The fever reducers ibuprofen (https://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Signature-Ibuprofen-Pack-Count/dp/B07TSZHXS6) and acetaminophen (https://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Signature-Strength-Acetaminophen-Caplets/dp/B07P9XSTY5). These help with high fever. But the fever actually makes your immune system more efficient, so don't just take fever reducers for a low fever. Only take them with a high fever that is too high.
Decongestants Diphenhydramine HCI (https://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Signature-Diphenhydramine-oyfij-Tablets/dp/B01JGVWYXE) and centirizine (https://www.amazon.com/s?k=cetirizine&crid=SZJMOPQSPFVX&sprefix=cetir%2Caps%2C700&ref=nb_sb_ss_i_3_5). These will help open up your airways to breathe easier. Getting oxygen is the key here.


I'm still looking for a few things. Namely, a inhaler to open up air passages and a good antibiotic to fight secondary infections. I'm also looking into options for oxygen or breathing devices.

Buy the drugs locally if you can to save money and get it immediately.

edit: Also looking for anti-diarrhea meds. Diarrhea can cause dehydration, and at home you can't just hook up an IV with saline to rehyrate.

I wash my hands several times a day with Hibiclens, as in a LOT since I have dogs I'm constantly interacting with. It doesn't take much, like not even a squirt the size of a quarter in your palm, to wash your hands. A little bit goes a long way, I've recently become more conservative with it, but in the past few years a gallon lasts me about a year of daily use. Sitting on nearly nine gallons of Hibiclens atm.
