Unbelievably painful. It has been almost two weeks now and I am getting around on crutches but not very well. I have broken bones and once cracked my kneecap in half and this is more painful. I haven’t been to sit and type at my keyboard so have been using my phone. It really sucks. I am trying to rest as much as possible so I don’t re-injure it. This has put a damper on my life and my posting abilities also.

I’ve heard of pulling a hamstring... how did you manage to tear it? I hope it starts feeling better soon...

I was up in a barn loft and didn’t really do anything out of the ordinary. Was stretching my leg downward to find a beam to stand on before jumping the rest of the way down. I think I over stretched;when I tried to jump down I Felt it snap and I hit the floor of the barn like a sack of potatoes. My sons are telling me that I am to old to do the things I do and I say ‘bullshit. A guy needs to stay active. I think it has something to do with my plantar fasciitis that sprang up a couple years back and I suspect may have something to do with taking ciprofloxacin when I had pneumonia a few years back. I need to find a good naturopathic doctor.

. I think it has something to do with my plantar fasciitis
You need to go on a low oxalate diet. An oxalate are crystals - toxins found mostly in plant based foods. Leafy greens like spinach, swish chard ect contain a lot. The crystals are the same thing people who have kidney stones get. But your body may harbor them different. Oxalates can build up on your tendons, in your arteries, in your eyes, just about anywhere in your body. They cause a lot of heart disease too.

I had plantar fasciitis for a few years and when I went to a low ox diet my plantar fasciitis was gone in 3 months. It took me about 2 years to get all the stored up oxalates out of my body. It was extremely painful to detox. At times it felt like I had rebar drilling into my bones. I would lay in bed at night and have pains shooting all over my body. You are suppose to go low oxalate a little at a time, but I was forced to go all at once which caused massive detox.
You can read about oxalates here.... http://www.lowoxalate.info/

Years ago , I tore my long thoracic nerve in my shoulder , I can imagine the pain of your hamstring!

Be well and be blessed...

I had Achilles tendonitis for a few years. When I started eating beef bone marrow it went away. It has all the ingredients to heal joints and everything that attaches to them.

Wolves around here put the verb into "hamstring". One will threaten the face of an Elk or Moose while the other will "hamstring" it from behind. Once a hamstring is clipped, they can take their time and have fun killing the prey, taking no chances of injury to themselves.

I hope you get well soon.

That low Ox diet sounds like a game changer. It is kind of daunting to give up so much. My wife is an excellent cook and looks at me sideways when I make any suggestions about ingredients but I really need to give it a try.

I was finally able to get a sonogram (ultra sound?) and the doctor told me that there was nothing suggesting tendon rupture or muscle separation needing surgery, so I am very relieved. I am finally getting around on one crutch but it has been a very frustrating, painful and trying time. Have pity on anyone who tears a muscle because it is no joke. I can finally hobble back out to the shop where so much of my life is spent, dreaming and creating things (ok, I sleep alot out there too.)

Oh boy. I tore mine at the age of about 20 and it has never been the same. I'm an athlete, and I've pulled it every single year since. Most people have no idea how difficult bad hamstring injuries are. Very painful, too. I remember at the time that my college roommate had to pick me up and carry me to the bathroom for a few days afterward. I couldn't even walk one inch.

I was amazed at the pain and the duration. It’s been the most significant injury I’ve had. I have been feeling a little like a pansy for taking it so hard but hearing about your experience gives me more self respect.

I turf-toed my right foot several years ago... sounds like a lame injury but it still acts up once in a while and makes walking painful... connective tissue injuries are no joke.
