These little breadcrumbs left in grammar are important. Are rights unalienable or inalienable? You pass a neighbor's garage and find it on fire. You rush in to find two pails. One is labeled UNFLAMMABLE while the other is INFLAMMABLE. Which will put out the fire?

I have a two volume set of Bouvier's Law Dictionary dated 1855. It represents black letter law. The original covers are plain brown cowhide.

I have another two volume set of Bouvier's Law Dictionary from 1862. The covers are marbleized, the inside of the covers are marbleized and the edges of the individual pages are marbleized.

I have never compared these two editions for changes to wording but I would guess they are 99% the same. It is obvious though that the 1862 edition is describing color of law rather than law. If the publisher had just stated this concept outright he would have found himself in one of Lincoln's political realignment camps. Instead he chose to make a political statement in his product.

When I go to a store and now have to first line up outside and wait for permission to go in, once inside notice all the new lines on the floor telling me how to move, consciously minimize my interactions with other afraid humans behind masks or Plexiglas, notice higher prices, fewer sales and more missing goods, and often my offer of cash is refused, I realize much about this covid crisis is corporations and other non human entities that have been taking over for a while now are now flexing their un-human powers.
