You'd think these clowns would research volatile flammables like gasoline before attempting arson. Gasoline liquid puts off an enormous vapor flume that clings to objects and especially the holder of the gasoline. Once you douse the intended target, you want to stand at least 20 feet away and wait a few minutes for the vapor plume that trails between you and the target to dissipate before igniting. Gasoline must be ignited from a safe distance, never within arm's reach.
