In the 1990s Netscape was the premier ground breaking web browser. Bill Gates claimed this was not taking the internet in the direction he thought proper.

Just saying the guy has a history of poor decisions.

Back then I was using Quicken’s accounting software and Netscape Navigator. I got an updat to Quicken that only worked with Internet explorer. I began looking for alternatives. My son said why don’t you use Linux? I din’t have any idea what Linux was.

I managed to download debian linux on floppy disks and get it installed in my 386sx 1 meg of ram computer. It didn’t support sound card or many printer drivers I managed to get X-window installed and used gnu-cash to replace Quicken. That ended my Micro$oft relationship.

Installing the system was a long slow learning process all command line. Finding drivers compatible with your hardware was difficult and non existent for some.

I still use debian. I have tried Ubuntu and Kubuntu in the past but settled on Debian.

Another thing that turned me against Bill Gates’ Micro$oft was I used Lotus. Some how he managed to squeeze them out With his Access
