I noticed there is an entry for wine, but not beer. Perhaps Mr. Bierce could not think of anything snarky to say about this superior beverage? I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

He does come up with some snarky material. No doubt about it. They mostly have a trace of truth though.

And I like your approach of looking for something that doesn't exist. The absence of a thing can be more informational than its presence.
