chosen (n.)
"the elect, the select," especially those selected by God, c. 1200, from past participle of choose (v.). Chosen people for "the Jews" is recorded from 1530s.

Now isn't that precious? They have only been chosen since 1530.

Wonder what happened then?

Are the other 12 tribes chosen?

God couldn’t make up his mind but finally in the 1530’s he got together with the Jews and they had a sit-down; Rabbi Shmucklestein floated the idea of convincing the pesky Goyim that the Jews were Gods’ chosen people and all other people were created only to serve the Jews. “Great idea Chaim” says God, “but just how do we convince them?” “No problem “ says Rabbi Shmucklestein, “They have no critical thinking abilities, so we just put it in a book. They believe anything they read.”
