So they can actually confirm a new justice after the election.

Imagine if the election is FUBAR, and there are half a dozen cases pending the supreme court to decide who the next president is, and Trump nominates someone in the middle of that.

Yes, I think it is important to consider that DJT KNOWS that RBG died a long while back and he knows those fighting him are going to use her death and its timing now for some political strategy purpose. DJT knows that they know he knows so the sides are using this fake news story for their own side of the chess game. Its like DJT knows a playing piece on the board has been moved by "the Dems" and he knows they are going to use that move, use even also any response they think he will make, to win the game. DJT makes some pretty good surprising chess moves so if there is a real fight going on, we should be able to observe it and interpret it correctly even if we are not privy to the real impact of the game moves.
