I am going to have some turkey today. First meat in about a month as I have been having stomach problems. I figure the benefits outweigh the risks. Hell, I might even drink a couple beers! I hope I don't piss-off my gut microbes.

I would think that your gut microbes should thrive on beer. Enjoy your day

And the usual suspects have a Thanksgiving present for us all -

https://www.newsweek.com/b-1-1-529-new-covid-variant-evade-immunity-countries-cases-south-africa-1653257

The variant, now called B.1.1.529, was reported on just days ago after a small cluster of cases were spotted by Tom Peacock, a virologist at Imperial College London in the U.K.

Truly the usual suspects.

Happy Thanksgiving!

You might want to stop at Stringtown near Kalona, back in the refrigerated section they will slice up some Lebanon double smoked baloney for you and you will enter meat heaven.

Mmmm, double smoked baloney! That does sound heavenly. That post was a year ago though and I haven't driven the Amish on a long haul like that; just too exhausting for me.

Tom Peacock? Ha! Tom Turkey would be more appropriate.

The strange thing is that my stomach was fine until I stopped drinking beer for a couple of weeks. Trying to lose weight and I do go on a beer fast (stop drinking beer) usually every year for a few weeks. Well, about 2 weeks off beer, I started getting the stomach problems. Maybe those little microbes are telling me they aren't interested in going without.

Going in for a CT scan on Monday. I guess I'll enjoy some beer today. Hope everyone has a fine Turkey day.

You might be able to find it near you. Worth the effort.

baloney

I was told by some that baloney reminds them of the afterbirth from a sow. :o

I'll still skip baloney and take a hunk of beef instead. No need to eat ground scraps.

I don’t eat hot dogs either. When I was young I was told baloney is all the scraps they clean up off the floor.

I suppose head cheese is a non-starter too?

My father made rolled flank https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rullepølse using a recipe his mother brought from Denmark. After he cured it in a brine he pressed it between two stones for several days. Then it was served in thin slices for sandwich meat

edit: Rocky Mountain oysters are good too, but Mom wouldn’t allow them in the house so my brother and I cooked the on the branding fire.

Well we had a nice Thanksgiving, complete with too much food.
Now it's leftover city.
A very happy Thanksgiving to all.

I draw the line on Rocky Mountain oysters. Just out of principle. Any woman that gloats in consuming testicles, is one to run from. Your mom made the right call.

Any woman that gloats in consuming testicles, is one to run from.
Yet to TESTIfy witnesses used to take the stand and cup their balls in their right hand so that you told the truth on penalty of losing them. Women and eunuchs were not allowed to testify because they had nothing to lose.
