Tip for the passport application: you have the option of NOT providing a Socialist Security on the application even though they appear to demand it - simply put all zeros in the field for the SS#. I've done this twice and it goes right through without any difficulty whatsoever. You cannot leave the field for the SS# blank. I last renewed it in 2013, I will make a renewal per your suggestion.

A passport? Likely not. All you have to do is review the Joyce case following WWII. Wherein a U.S. citizen was hung by the British after the war was over for treason for the sole reason that he at some point in time had a British passport.
