Starting a thread for the new level of crazy out there.
What's Kafkaesque,is when you enter a surreal world in which all your control patterns, all your plans, the whole way in which you have configured your own behavior, begins to fall to pieces, when you find yourself against a force that does not lend itself to the way you perceive the world.
You don't give up, you don't lie down and die. What you do is struggle against this with all of your equipment, with whatever you have. But of course you don't stand a chance. That's Kafkaesque. - Frederick R. Karl

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Capitol complex temporarily locked down Monday during a rehearsal for President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration after a fire in a homeless encampment roughly a mile away sent a plume of smoke into the air and caused security concerns in an already jittery city.
The false alarm briefly interrupted the rehearsal for Wednesday’s inauguration ceremony, a quadrennial exercise in which stand-ins take the roles of Biden and other VIPs and the U.S. Marine Corps Band goes through its paces, including practicing “The Star-Spangled Banner” for Wednesday’s performance by Lady Gaga. Rehearsal resumed not long afterward, accompanied by frequent passes by a helicopter patrolling the skies over the Capitol.
Law enforcement officials said there was no threat to the public and the fire was not believed to be a threat to the inauguration. Local firefighters put out the blaze quickly. The evacuation of some participants and the lockdown were ordered by the acting chief of Capitol Police in an abundance of caution, officials said.
Newsweek: National Guard Members Removed from Inauguration Security Over Ties to Right Wing Militias (https://www.newsweek.com/national-guard-members-removed-inauguration-security-over-ties-right-wing-militias-1562679)
Two National Guardsmen were removed from the protection force listed to secure President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration on Tuesday.
A U.S. Army official and a senior U.S. intelligence official told the Associated Press that the two guardsmen have ties to a right-winged militia group. The officials, however, spoke to the AP under the condition of anonymity due to the Defense Department's media regulations.
The officials also did not name the militia group the two men belonged but noted that they did not find any plots against the President-elect...
David Gomez, a former FBI national security supervisor, previously told the AP that the bureau's vetting process would involve running people's names through multiple databases and watchlists to see if they connect to any prior investigations or terrorism-related concerns.
TIME: Everyone Thinks I’m a Terrorist’: Capitol Riot Fuels Calls for Domestic War on Terror (https://time.com/5930592/everyone-thinks-im-a-terrorist-capitol-riot-fuels-calls-for-domestic-war-on-terror/)
“Everyone is saying it was a terrorist attack,” she told TIME about a week after the riot. “Everyone thinks I’m a terrorist because I was at that event.”
And it isn’t just the people in her newsfeed. A growing chorus of security experts and politicians has cast the mob, or parts of it, in terms that are typically reserved for ISIS and Al Qaeda. Some commentators have even begun to call for a new American war on terror in response to the Capitol riot, one aimed at President Trump’s more radical supporters on the right.
That has stirred a broader debate about how best to fight right-wing domestic terrorism...
Few if any of the biggest civil liberties organizations in the U.S. has issued statements urging caution in the rush to find, blacklist or prosecute the Capitol rioters. Speaking to TIME on Thursday, a director at one of these organizations did express concerns “as a private person” about responding to the riot with the tools of counterterrorism. “I do have grave concerns,” he says, asking not to be named, as he was not authorized to speak to the media on this issue...
The words and actions of Trump’s supporters, even when they renounce the results of a free and fair election, or support shows of force from armed militias, are protected by the Constitution, whose First Amendment guarantees free speech and the freedom “peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
Rolling back those freedoms has served in other countries as a prelude to authoritarianism, and it is easy enough to imagine a future U.S. President deciding to label his opponents terrorists before stripping them of their fundamental rights...
“The people at the Capitol signified the people of the world,” Larrea says in summarizing the message of her church leaders. “In a way, we are taking back, the people are taking back the world from the evils of the world. That’s what my congregation has been talking about.”
Under normal circumstances, such a statement would be protected under the First Amendment. But it’s less clear how the U.S. Justice system would respect those protections in the context of a war on domestic terrorism.

Conservative Party Leader Erin O’Toole says he has initiated the process to remove MP Derek Sloan from the party’s caucus after he accepted a donation from a “well-known white supremacist,” Paul Fromm.
In a statement Monday evening, O’Toole said Sloan’s acceptance of the donation is “far worse than a gross error of judgment or failure of due diligence.”
“In accordance with the Reform Act, I have initiated the process to remove Mr. Sloan from the Conservative Party of Canada caucus,” O’Toole said in the statement. “I expect this to be done as quickly as possible.”
He said he will also not allow Sloan to run as a candidate for the party.

Clinton, who hosts the podcast, "You and Me Both," told Pelosi that she would be interested in obtaining President Trump's phone records to see if he was on the phone with Putin while the Capitol was being breached...
"I would love to see his phone records to see if he was talking to Putin the day the insurgents invaded our Capitol," [Hiliary Clinton] said. She asked Pelosi if she believed the country would benefit from a 9/11-commission-type probe to investigate what exactly led up to the deadly riot.
Pelosi said she is in favor of such a commission and she recalled telling the president that, "With you, Mr. President, all roads lead to Putin."
"I don’t know what Putin has on him politically, financially or personally, but what happened last week was a gift to Putin because Putin wants to undermine democracy in our country and throughout the world," Pelosi said. She said those that took part in the riot were "Putin’s puppets."
"So yes, we should have a 9/11 commission and there is strong support in the Congress to do that," she said.

"Dear visitors!
Since January 18 this year the American side has completely disconnected all city telephone lines of the Russian Consulate General in New York, periodically there are interruptions in Internet access."
Sputnik - the Russian state media agency - said that US authorities are citing technical difficulties as the reason for the dead phone lines. This according to a source at the consulate who said that a two-day delay in getting the phone lines back up and working is “unheard of”. The source told the state media agency that all connected phone lines went down at the same time.
The Independent attempted to email the consulate but was returned with an error message saying that the server wasn’t available.

Officials have not identified “specific, credible threats” ahead of Inauguration Day, a top homeland security official said Friday.
“There’s no specific credible threats at this point in time. There’s just this raised level of tension. And so we’re raising our security level. And we’re doing it across the country,” Ken Cuccinelli, acting deputy secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, said on CNN’s “New Day.”

WASHINGTON — Federal authorities reported just three arrests Wednesday, none of them involving violence, as an unprecedented lockdown secured the inauguration of President Joe Biden.
Despite fears that domestic extremists would attempt new attacks just two weeks after the deadly assault on the Capitol, the U.S. Secret Service reported only 13 arrests since Jan. 13, when federal authorities launched a massive defensive operation to secure the city for the inauguration.
Two people were arrested for carrying unregistered ammunition Wednesday, while a third was found in possession of a pellet gun, as ceremonies stretching from the Capitol to Arlington Cemetery played out without incident.
Less than 24 hours after Biden was sworn in, some of the extreme security measures, which included the deployment of 25,000 National Guard troops, began to loosen.
Workers began taking down iron fencing, concrete barricades were being removed, vehicle checkpoints were abandoned and bridges reopened as the fortress capital slowly began to shed its collective armour...
Downtown streets remained largely empty and quiet, save for the incessant beeping of construction equipment removing barricades and the grunts and yells of workers hefting sandbags and removing fencing.
As the day progressed, the sounds of screw guns began echoing through the streets as contractors removed plywood protecting windows.

jpost.com: Turkey pro-government media: ‘Jews overrepresented in Biden Cabinet’ (https://www.jpost.com/diaspora/antisemitism/turkey-pro-government-media-jews-overrepresented-in-biden-cabinet-656439)
JANUARY 24, 2021
A Turkish social media site that usually posts about armed conflict attacked Jews as “overrepresented in Biden cabinet,"...
Turkish pro-government media cultivated ties with America’s far-right, including the Proud Boys, often pushing conspiracy theories about Antifa and the US “deep state.”...
Turkey has a long history of spreading populist racist rhetoric against Kurds, Armenians, Jews, Greeks and other minorities. Clash Report, the social media site, posted an image online on January 22 claiming to show the “Jews severely overrepresented in Biden cabinet. One percent of US population, more than fifty percent of cabinet.”
This is the kind of language that was used by antisemitic regimes to excuse discrimination against Jews. For instance, Germany passed a series of “numerus clausus” under the Nazis to keep Jews at only 1.5% of admissions to certain educational institutions. Nazism was influenced by Turkish nationalism. Adolf Hitler told Turkey’s ambassador in 1939 that he was influenced by Turkey...
What is clear is that on January 22, it suddenly tweeted in English, Turkish and Russian about the “Jewish overrepresentation” in Biden’s new government. It claimed that Antony Blinken, David Cohen, Avril Haines, Janet Yellen, Ronald Klain, Wendy Sherman, Merrick Garland, Eric Lander, Anne Neiberger, Rachel Levine and Alejandro Mayorkas are Jewish...
While some on social media joked about the Clash Report tweet, others in Turkish took it seriously and called out the antisemitism. While some did critique the post, most did not, including the many verified followers of Clash Report.
While the post got the most retweets in Turkish, around 206 by Saturday afternoon, it was not getting a huge response.
A search of Clash Report tweets about Jews shows that this is only the second tweet to use the term “yehudiler” or “yahudilerin” in Turkish and the same was true in English, illustrating that the account had never zeroed in on Jews before and it was unclear why now it had shifted from covering “clashes” to “Jews.”
It appears that the report relied on a JTA piece that was headlined “all the Jews Joe Biden has tapped for roles in his administration (https://www.jewishexponent.com/2021/01/20/all-the-jews-joe-biden-has-tapped-for-top-roles-in-his-administration/).”
The post has numerous English spelling and grammatical errors, such as referring to Sherman as “he.”
The claim of Jewish overrepresentation comes on the heels of another antisemitic article in Turkey’s pro-government Yeni Safak newspaper, which claimed in early January that the “great president” Donald Trump had been removed by “Jewish lords” and that the “global Jewish power in America has dealt another blow to Trump.” The outlandish article asserted that Jews control America and were responsible for Pearl Harbor and conspiracies such as 9/11
These kinds of antisemitic articles are never condemned by Turkey’s ruling party and many of these far-right websites are read by Turkish government officials.

Associated Press: Extremists exploit a loophole in social moderation: Podcasts (https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-conspiracy-theories-media-misinformation-social-media-b7bb0ace8a617af733357f6ee15aca03?utm_medium=AP&utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=Twitter)
By TALI ARBELJanuary 19, 2021
Major social platforms have been cracking down on the spread of misinformation and conspiracy theories in the leadup to the presidential election, and expanded their efforts in the wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. But Apple and Google, among others, have left open a major loophole for this material: Podcasts.
Podcasts made available by the two Big Tech companies let you tune into the world of the QAnon conspiracy theory, wallow in President Donald Trump’s false claims of a stolen election and bask in other extremism. Accounts that have been banned on social media for election misinformation, threatening or bullying, and breaking other rules also still live on as podcasts available on the tech giants’ platforms.
Conspiracy theorists have peddled stolen-election fantasies, coronavirus conspiracies and violent rhetoric. One podcaster, RedPill78, called the Capitol siege a “staged event” in a Jan. 11 episode of Red Pill News...
Podcasting “plays a particularly outsized role” in propagating white supremacy, said a 2018 report from the Anti-Defamation League. Many white supremacists, like QAnon adherents, support Trump. Podcasting’s an intimate, humanizing mode of communication that lets extremists expound on their ideas for hours at a time, said Oren Segal of ADL’s Center on Extremism...
“Podcasts filled with hatred and incitement to violence should not be treated any differently than any other content,” Segal said. “If you’re going to take a strong stance against hate and extremism in the platform in any way, it should be all-inclusive.”..
Podcasts suffer from the same misinformation problem as other platforms, said Shane Creevy, head of editorial for Kinzen, a startup created by former Facebook and Twitter executives that offers a disinformation tracker to companies, including some that host or curate podcasts.
Creevy points out that it’s harder to analyze misinformation from video and audio than from text. Podcasts can also run for hours, making them difficult to monitor. And podcasting has additional challenges in that there are no reliable statistics on their audience, unlike a YouTube stream, which shows views, or a tweet or Facebook post, which shows likes and shares, Creevy said.
But some argue that tech-company moderation is opaque and inconsistent, creating a new set of problems. Censorship “goes with the tide against what’s popular in any given moment,” said Jillian York, an expert at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital-rights group. Right now, she said, “that tide is against the speech of right-wing extremists ... but tomorrow the tide might be against opposition activists.”

January 25, 2021
OTTAWA -- On the proposal of NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, members of Parliament unanimously agreed Monday to call on the federal government to declare the Proud Boys a “terrorist entity.”
The motion called on the government to “use all available tools to address the proliferation of white supremacists and hate groups,” starting with the immediate designation of the Proud Boys as a terrorist group.
The Proud Boys are a far-right extremist group founded by a Canadian, and members of the group were present at the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
While this motion is not binding and the government would still have to formally add the Proud Boys to the list of terror groups, doing so was something that was already being considered.
In a recent interview on CTV’s Question Period, Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair said that Canada could soon be adding more extremist groups like the Proud Boys to Canada’s list of recognized terrorist organizations.
Blair said at the time that Canadian national security officials were actively gathering intelligence about groups such as the Proud Boys on an ongoing basis.
“We're very mindful of ideologically-motivated violent extremists, including groups like the Proud Boys. They are white supremacists, anti-Semitics, Islamophobic, misogynist groups. They're all hateful, they're all dangerous,” Blair said.

Jagmeet Singh, also known as Jimmy Dhaliwal, was born in 1979 to immigrant Indian parents in Canada. A lawyer-turned-politician, Singh is currently serving as leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP) since 2017 and as a Member of Parliament since 2019.
However, Jagdeep Singh is known for his support for Khalistani terrorists and has openly voiced his support for the anti-Indian Khalistanis in Canada, earning him the tag of being ‘Pro-Khalistan’.
In 2014, the Indian government had denied Singh a visa to visit India for criticising human rights record of India. Denying him a visa, the Indian government had accused him of misusing the human rights cause to pursue his “insidious agenda of disturbing the social fabric of India and undermining the peace, harmony and territorial integrity of India”. He also became the first western legislator ever to be denied entry into the country.

I'd recommend watching this from 41-49 minutes where blue-haired Fauci (Rosa Luisa, Chair of the House Appropriations Committee) really seems to want to pass legislation making "unauthorized private militia groups" illegal.

CampusReform.org: Students seek to oust prof who explained motivation of peaceful Trump voters (https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=17209)
April 8, 2021A professor explained the motivation behind those who peacefully attended the January 6 rally in Washington, D.C. Students are now demanding that the university discipline him.
In an essay for The American Mind (https://americanmind.org/salvo/once-upon-a-presidency/), philosophy professor Joshua Hochschild at Mt. St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland detailed the sentiments of Trump voters, from the announcement of his candidacy to the events of January 6.
“They know that, even if the rally does not actually help Trump politically, it promises to draw attention to problems with our electoral system, and to testify to the importance of peaceful democratic protests,” Hochschild said of the peaceful members of the crowd. “Maybe there will be a resolved will to reform the system, and to ensure that people can trust elections next time.”
Hochschild then noted the reactions of average Trump voters to the media “exploiting the awful travesty of some people’s inexcusable violence to delegitimize and shame every responsible citizen who took reasonable and lawful means to raise legitimate questions about election integrity.”...
Though Hochschild explicitly said that those who rioted at the Capitol Building on January 6 were “stupid,” “shameful,” and “lawless,” students believe that he presented excessive grace to those who participated in the rallies.
Nearly 1,800 individuals signed a petition calling for Hochschild’s resignation.
“While I will allow individuals to make their own judgment upon the article, I find this to be yet another example of a Mount professor proving that ‘the benefit of the doubt’ is reserved for White Americans only,” wrote petition author and class of 2021 member Brea Purdie.

10 April 2021
Police visited the L.A. home of a podcaster this week a day after after he posted a tweet criticizing AOC and her comments on Israel and Palestine.
Ryan Wentz runs the online show Soapbox and tweets under the handle Queelamode [sic, queeralamode].
On April 7, he posted a link to an interview where AOC stumbled and struggled to answer questions on how to resolve peace in the Middle East. Wentz called her answers 'incredibly underwhelming'.
The next day, two California Highway Patrol officers visited him at home in L.A. to caution him for allegedly threatening a member of congress.
He claims the cops said they had received a call from Capitol Police that he had 'threatened' the New York congresswoman. They left him their card but took no further action.
'The officers said, "We got a warning about a sitting member of Congress. And it was because of your tweet, which tagged them in it."
And then they just wouldn’t back down from this accusation that I threatened to kill her,' he told The Gray Zone...
Wentz told The Gray Zone that he thought the officers were purely trying to intimidate him and silence the right.
If this was like a purely intimidation thing then I guess it did its job. It’s not comforting to be on the receiving end of that.
'But at the same time, they’re not going to shut the left up.'
Tucker Carlson fumed on his FOX show on Friday night that it is the latest in a string of examples of the left trying to censor conservative voices.
He said Wentz had merely pointed out that AOC didn't know what she was talking about when she gave the interview.
She had been asked about how to bring peace to the Middle East. She replied: 'You know, earlier, just now, you and I were talking about the "what" and the "how." And I think that when we talk about peace, centering people’s humanity, protecting people’s rights – it’s not just about the "what" and the end goal, which often gets a lot of focus, but I actually think it’s much more about the "how", and the way we are coming together, and how we interpret that "what", and how we act in, you know, the actions we take to get to that "what."

Ontario reversed course on sweeping new police powers Saturday, just one day after Premier Doug Ford announced the measures that triggered a swift and furious backlash.
Solicitor General Sylvia Jones says officers will no longer have the right to stop any pedestrian or vehicle to ask why they are out or request their home address.
Instead, she says, police will only be able to stop people who they have reason to believe are participating in an “organized public event or social gathering.”...
Politicians were among those denouncing the new police powers.
In a note to constituents, Jill Andrew, a New Democrat provincial legislator, said the measures show the Ford government is out of touch.
“Let’s be very real here: We are not going to police our way out of the pandemic,” he said. “The reality here is that this will likely impact Black, Indigenous, and people of colour.”

nypost.com: Why we must demand that leaders who got COVID wrong admit it and apologize (https://nypost.com/2022/03/06/why-we-must-demand-apologies-from-leaders-who-got-covid-wrong/)
March 6, 2022
As COVID restrictions end around the country, and Democratic politicians pretend that something about the science has changed instead of their poll numbers being in the dirt, Americans must first demand: apologies...
You, leadership in school districts that closed for the entirety of the 2020-2021 school year because American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten told you to — and you were too afraid to counter. Whether school boards, mayors or governors, those in charge who kept schools closed have to be held accountable.
It wasn’t that the teachers unions were strong, it was that you were weak. It was a dereliction of your duty. Apologize.
But, of course, you couldn’t have done it without cover from our politicized health agencies. You, Rochelle Walensky at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, allowed Weingarten to craft absurd, unscientific policies that kept kids out of school.
You let her block the schoolhouse door because you were on the same political team. You broke the trust Americans had in their health agencies and we will all suffer the repercussions of that for a long time.
Apologize to the children whose lives you’ve stunted and who may never recover from the educational loss. Apologize to the kids who received speech therapy through masks because you refused to acknowledge that masking had been pointless in stopping COVID-19 spread.
You may have permanently damaged these children because you refused to admit that you had been wrong for so long. Apologize...
You fearful, quiet politicians who let extended lockdowns destroy businesses, fray the fabric of our cities and cost us all so much: We saw you maskless, at concerts and parties, while our 2-year-olds stay masked to this day.
We know that you didn’t actually think masking was important like you implored us it was. You loved your power and nothing else mattered. Apologize.
And you, compliant media, the disaster of the last two years is at your feet. You created heroes out of people like Gov. Andrew Cuomo, whose nursing home directive cost thousands of lives, while demonizing Gov. Ron DeSantis, who used all of his political capital to correctly force schools open, a decision everyone now pretends was easy but certainly was not.
You ran stories about high case numbers in Florida “as schools open” to project that schools were somehow unsafe. You were incurious and did not ever challenge the corrupt health care agencies. You let us down.
Don’t apologize, we don’t believe you anyway.
The pandemic could be waning, maybe, and the impulse might be to forgive, without any apologies, and forget. We can’t do that. A new variant can easily emerge and the people who have been wrong for two years will go right back to forcing their failed prescriptions on us all.
Declaration of war and destruction of trust in their banking system aside, since the Trucker convoy and protests the Canadian Federal and Provincial public service tyrants in Canada have been rolling back the Covid restrictions and forcing clot-shots if you want to keep your job.
Something smells in the province on Ontario.
nowtoronto.com: Ontario health minister Christine Elliott calls it quits (https://nowtoronto.com/news/ontario-health-minister-christine-elliott-calls-it-quits)
Mar 4, 2022Doug Ford’s ship may not be sinking, but it’s certainly springing a few sizable leaks.
A little more than three months out from a provincial election, health minister and deputy premier Christine Elliott announced in a statement Friday that she will not be seeking re-election.
Elliott says she would remain as health minister until the election. She says the decision not to run was made “after considerable reflection and discussion with my family.”
Elliott had up until recently told certain members of the Queen’s Park press gallery that she planned to stand for re-election, but now becomes the third high-profile member of cabinet to announce her departure since the beginning of the year.
In January, Ford’s former finance minister and minister of long-term care, Rod Phillips, announced he would not be seeking re-election. That was a week after former environment minister Jeff Yurek stated that he would not be running either.
On February 18, three other PC MPPs – Daryl Kramp, Bill Walker and Jane McKenna – also announced they would not be flying the PC flag in the upcoming election. Kramp, who has been an MPP since 2018, cited health and family reasons. Walker, a former Minister of Government and Consumer Services has decided to retire. McKenna, the Associate Minister of Women and Children’s Issues, is running for regional chair in Halton.
Five other sitting PC MPPs, including Scarborough Centre’s Christina Mitas, have also announced their intention not to run...
But it’s also no secret Elliott sided with [pro-scamdemic] bureaucrats in the health ministry over the government’s COVID-19 response, which at times put her in conflict with her caucus colleagues...
As a result, Elliott became the target of critics on both sides of the issue – those who believe the province’s response wasn’t coordinated enough and those among her own constituents who thought restrictions were too harsh. The backlash would result in protests at the front door of her Toronto home...
Ontario is now facing a backlog of some 58,000 surgeries because hospital resources had to be redirected during the pandemic. The Ontario Medical Association says that the backlog will take more than two years to clear.

The province confirms that it will be investing more than $700 million to provide retention payments of up to $5,000 to eligible nurses in the province.
In a news release issued Monday, the Ford government announced details of the lump sum payment, which was previously confirmed by the Ontario Nurses Association (ONA) last month.
“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic nurses have stayed on the front lines with remarkable dedication and selflessness as they care for our sick and most vulnerable Ontarians, and we know that a strong nursing workforce is crucial to supporting the province’s recovery in the months and years ahead,” Christine Elliott, deputy premier and minister of health, said in a written statement...
To receive the first payment, the province said, nurses must be employed as of March 31 and to receive the second, nurses must be employed as of Sept. 1.

Cutting off oil from Russia is the new social distancing.
Not using products that consume more energy is the new mask and public shaming.
I'd have written the fourth piont to include more banking action though. Something like:

Lots of great NPC corporate fake news brain chip replacement memes the last few weeks.

Sadly, at this time gas as of this morning is now eight dollars a gallon ($2L) yet I still have to mask up to go shopping and cannot go to a restaurant and the like because I didn't get the mRNA clot shots.

In a March 3 appearance at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, Walensky was interviewed by Dr. William G. Powderly, co-director of the institution’s Division of Infectious Diseases...
Walensky said:
“I can tell you where I was when the CNN feed came that it was 95% effective, the vaccine. So many of us wanted to be hopeful, so many of us wanted to say, okay, this is our ticket out, right, now we’re done. So I think we had perhaps too little caution and too much optimism for some good things that came our way. I really do. I think all of us wanted this to be done.
“Nobody said waning, when you know, oh this vaccine’s going to work. Oh well, maybe it’ll work — (laughs) it’ll wear off.
“Nobody said what if the next variant doesn’t, it doesn’t, it’s not as potent against the next variant.”

wikipedia: 2018 Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario leadership election (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Progressive_Conservative_Party_of_Ontario_lea dership_election)
The 2018 Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario leadership election was held on March 10, 2018, due to the resignation of party leader Patrick Brown on January 25, 2018, following allegations of sexual misconduct. Winner Doug Ford narrowly defeated runner-up Christine Elliott on the third ballot with 50.6% of allocated points.
torontosun.com: PC Leader Patrick Brown steps down amid sexual misconduct allegations (https://torontosun.com/news/provincial/pc-leader-patrick-brown-denies-sexual-assault-allegations)
Jan 25, 2018
Three senior members of Brown’s political team — Andrew Boddington, Alykhan Velshi and Dan Robertson — released a statement saying they had advised him to resign. When he refused, the trio — his campaign manager, chief of staff and deputy campaign manager — resigned instead.
His press secretary Nick Bergamini also quit, and tweeted that it is in the best interest of the PC party that he immediately step down...
Brown’s media conference came two hours after he learned that CTV News would be airing complaints by two women of sexual misconduct. The news outlet did not identify the complainants.
The stunning revelations come as Brown was riding high in the polls heading into a June provincial election with the possibility of gaining a majority government.
From what I recall of this 'scandal' when Brown as 35 (in 2013) he partied with two adult university students whom CTV, while refusing to release the women's identities, claimed (incorrectly) that they were underage high-school students coordinated with several staffers and people in his government immediately insisting he had to resign, and presto: Ontario got Doug Ford as Premier instead of Patrick Brown.

March 9, 2022
CTV has reached a settlement with Patrick Brown, the former Ontario Progressive Conservative leader and current mayor of Brampton, Ont.
In an update Wednesday CTV said it and Brown "have resolved their legal dispute."
In January 2018, Brown stepped down as leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservatives following a CTV broadcast around allegations of sexual misconduct involving two women. Brown has denied the allegations, which have not been proven in court.
"Key details provided to CTV for the story were factually incorrect and required correction. CTV National News regrets including those details in the story and any harm this may have caused to Mr. Brown," reads the update agreed upon by both parties.
The story had been updated to reflect the first woman’s revised recollection of her age at the time of the alleged events.
In response to the 2018 report, Brown filed a defamation lawsuit against CTV News, seeking $8 million in damages...
The settlement with CTV comes as Brown is expected to make a decision in the coming days on whether he will run to be the next leader of the Conservative Party of Canada...
A new federal Conservative leader will be chosen on Sept. 10 and candidacy must be declared by April 19.

The Canadian Federal government's 'news' organization, CBC retracts their fake news that most Trucker protest funding was from the United States but also now a hiding of their fake news disinformation, a significant factor that caused woke Federal parliamentarians to enact Canada's New War measures act for the first time ever as well as to use this against her own Citizens.

“On Feb. 10 in a report about the protest convoy, CBC Radio’s The World This Hour incorrectly said GoFundMe ended a fundraiser for the protesters over questionable donations to the group,” the network said in a statement, according to Blacklock’s Reporter.
CBC News said at the time it had completed an analysis of Freedom Convoy donations and discovered suspicious contributions from foreigners.
A second story that same day, by CBC reporter Elizabeth Thompson, posted to the website said: “An analysis of GoFundMe donations by CBC News has revealed at least one third of them had been made by donors who chose to remain anonymous or who listed names that were obviously fictitious or political commentary.”
On March 3, GoFundMe told the Commons public safety committee that foreigners made up only a small portion of convoy donations, most dollar amounts were small, and credit card records found no donations by terrorist groups, neo-Nazis or other criminals.
“Our records show 88% of donated funds originated in Canada,” GoFundMe president Juan Benitez testified.
On Feb. 3, the CBC corrected a Jan. 28 TV story when host Nil Koksal on Power And Politics claimed “there is concern that Russian actors could be continuing to fuel things as this protest grows or perhaps even instigating it from the outside.”

foxnews.com: GiveSendGo to refund Freedom Convoy donors, claims Canada government trying to seize, redistribute millions (https://www.foxnews.com/world/canada-freedom-convoy-truckers-givesendgo-refund-donors?utm_source=wnd&utm_medium=wnd&utm_campaign=syndicated)

"The Canadian government has criminalized the receiving of funds from the Canadian trucker campaigns and now are trying to seize the funds to restribute," GiveSendGo said in statement shared on Twitter. "In order to protect our Givers and the intended purpose of their gifts, funds not already transferred to the recipients from the ‘Freedom Trucker Convoy’ campaign will be refunded."...
Jacob Wells, the co-founder of the platform, told an Ontario Superior Judge on Wednesday that he would be refunding donors to campaigns supporting the truckers’ protest in Ottawa.
Monique Jilesen, a lawyer for the class action lawsuit on behalf of affected Ottawa residents, and Melissa Adams, a lawyer from the Ontario Attorney General’s Office, both argued the proposed refund violated the court order freezing funds. The class-action lawsuit has been pushing for the unclaimed funds and cryptocurrency to go into escrow to possibly later be redistributed to Ottawa residents and businesses, Global News reported...
In a letter addressed to Canadian Privacy Commissioner Daniel Therrien on Wednesday, Conservative Member of Parliament James Bezan pleaded for an investigation into the illegal hacking of the platform that resulted in tens of thousands of Canadians’ personal information being circulated online.
"In some instances, Canadians have had unredacted images of their passports and driver’s licenses exposed and downloadable online," Bezan said. "This blatant breach of privacy has resulted in ‘doxxing’ campaigns on social media, numerous media stories in national and international media." ...
Both Canadian MPs Pam Damoff and Sameer Zuberi criticized GiveSendGo for allowing campaigns for the Proud Boys, saying the Canadian government listed the Proud Boys as a terrorist organization in 2019. In actuality, the Canadian government did not list the Proud Boys as a terrorist organization until February 2021. GiveSendGo said that was done in response to the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riot.
"We listed them as a terrorist entity in 2019. The U.S. has not done that. You continue to fundraise for them. You continue to fundraise for groups that support Islamophobia, Anti-Semitism, Nazi sympathizers, White supremacists," Damoff said during the hearing. "I’m just wondering how you can justify giving people like that a platform to raise funds?"
"If we started mandating litmus tests for how good people ought to be in order to use public service, we would be in a very, very difficult situation," Wells responded.

In an Oct. 10 directive telling employees how to write about the violence, CTV told them not to use the word “Palestine” and made the politically-charged assertion that “Palestine…does not currently exist.”
The email, sent to journalists across the media conglomerate, stated that all Bell Media platforms should use the same language.

A similar instance occurred in Sderot, where Hamas fighters had taken over the local police station, and were holding Israeli police captive inside. Both the Hamas fighters and Israeli police were killed when the Israeli army fired tank shells at the police station, killing everyone. Israeli forces then bulldozed the station.
It is therefore unclear how many of the Israelis who died on 7 October were killed by Hamas, whose fighters were seeking to take as many Israelis, both soldiers and civilians, captive back to Gaza as possible, and how many were killed by Israeli forces refusing to negotiate for the captives’ release.
