If ports on my dedesktop have short or are not working at all, is that something that can be repaired? Only have mouse working now. Have old laptop for concurrent keyboard use.

Anything can be repaired. The question is what can done

1. Economically
2. Conviently

For myself I find replacing a computer every 3-5 years corrects years of bad housekeeping. You can get laptops for about $200.

I would start with setting the bios back to default. I must have got some sort of malware that reset my bios one time. Drove me crazy trying to get stuff to work. Also replace the battery, that can cause some unique issues too.
