Yep, I've also noticed that same pattern. Look up at company of size (north of 1 Billion in worth) and you'll always see the same 3 top share owners as being Vanguard, Blackrock and State street. Vanguard has majority stake in black rock, but the way vanguard structures its company you can't tell who the majority owners are of Vanguard.
Vanguard IS the oligarchy investment arm, blackrock is its public face.

Was having a discussion with other professionals in my area of interest.
All of the software makers for our required software are changing their payment systems/licensing to yearly (subscriptions) from what was a standalone purchase/company asset.
For giggles, I checked the largest shareholders of these respective companies...
BlackRock and Vanguard had about 20 percent of the float.
The meeting host didn't like me bringing it up.

Don't know. Was off topic for the discussion. I looked it up while we were having the discussion.
Most software companies are moving to one year licensing. Shows income every year. Quickbooks and Adobe are just two to name.

Makes forecasting revenue a lot easier if they can consistently count on the number of subscribers. I don't like that model either, but I see why companies are moving to it.
