Looks plausible, but 5G can only penetrate into the skin by a few millimeters. I don’t see how a tower could conceivably talk to or activate these. Maybe something super powerful at close range like an MRI machine could.

Note at the end of that presentation there's mention of the nano-tags being distributed via aerosol or airborne. Which means one could unknowingly pick up nano-tags when passing through an area and then be tracked from that point forward - unless one is able to ditch the nano-tags. However I suspect the usual suspects will develop nano-tags with adhesive qualities that make it impossible to eliminate from a vehicle's surface, wash out of clothing, shampoo out of hair, or remove that which is possibly embedded in skin. How would one even know if one has been 'tagged' if one doesn't have inside info??

I think that nano-tags could be produced and injected/distributed as you mention for sure. But reading and writing to the tags wirelessly (and hence using them to track) would be very difficult.

The most feasible way I can think of would be through the use of lasers. The tags could modulate the reflected laser light either through frequency/color or through reflectivity.

Note, these could be infrared or ultraviolet lasers, so they could be invisible. Obviously they couldn’t penetrate the skin.

Otherwise, if using other frequencies such as 5G, the tags would have to be much bigger (like an ink tattoo) or they simply would not work.
