Head of the Estonian Defense Forces Intelligence Center Colonel Margo Grosberg stated on June 16 that he assesses "we won't see an offensive over the next seven days.” The Wall Street Journal similarly reported on June 17 that Ukrainian forces “have mostly paused their advances in recent days” as Ukrainian command reexamines tactics. These reports are consistent with ISW’s recent observations of the scale and approach of localized Ukrainian counterattacks in southern and eastern Ukraine. ISW has previously noted that Ukraine has not yet committed the majority of its available forces to counteroffensive operations and has not yet launched its main effort. Operational pauses are a common feature of major offensive undertakings, and this pause does not signify the end of Ukraine’s counteroffensive.

Before the offensive, the UKR's Western partners were talking about a shock that would put the Russians on the run and catalyze Ukraine's success.

Considering what Zelensky said that "when the offensive starts, the whole country will feel it."Also take into account that, it was calculated that by this time, Ukraine should already be besieging Melítopol, Berdyansk and Mariupol.

If you add to that Prigozhin's erroneous statements that things in the south were going badly...Here goes my 5 cents:
1. Prigozhin has already been caught by the West, taking advantage of his political aspirations.

2. Ukraine really believed that Russia would run as soon as they saw the Leopards, just like they did in Kharkov last year.

3. In this scenario, by this time of the month, it should already be besieging the cities I mentioned (which has not happened).

4. In that moment of chaos, Prigozhin delivers the coup de grace and puts the Russians to flight.

5. Since they didn't pass the scenario in 2 and 3, and in order to try to make the Russian state collapse, they decide to launch the coup plan anyway to see if they achieve the objective, burning Prigozhin in the process.
