Just finished this book.

It was a pretty incredible survey of ancient prehistory. It talked about the history and evolution of ancient civilizations and how money and money lending was central to shaping it.

For example, writing was basically invented for keeping track of loans and payments. Just think about it, money and debt is so fundamental that writing was invented and first used solely to record debt. This was long before the first religious texts.

This book barely talks about Jews at all. They don’t come into existence until the last five percent of the book. It is primarily about money lenders as a persistent evil and how as a group they evolved over time.

There is a second volume that probably talks about them more.
