I'd recommend this site continue on in place of GIM2...if what's happened in the last 24 hours is some sort of grotesquely twisted "joke," I don't want to return to GIM. And If GIM is truly being shut down for some behind-the-scenes reason, I can't imagine it's a comforting one. I think I'll stay here instead. ;)

Some of you may not have been there long enough to remember the time skydyke deleted all his posts and signed over the forum to another member. Then something strange happened, and all of a sudden AMPEX starting posting, a LOT. At that time the "whois" went to private and no more funds were asked for to maintain the upkeep, as in previous years.

I'm not saying that I have any 'inside info', I don't. I just pay attention to the little things.

All that said, I wasn't spending much time there anyway, and I see some good folks here. I truly hope that it doesn't turn into another Agora site.

I was JoeSixPack on GIM.

As you probably know, Joe Sixpack is a little more deragotory term for John Q. Public who was a character used by the cartoonist Mark Shoemaker of the the Chicago (Tribune?) newspaper in the 1930s. I actually have a signed cartoon book of his. Joe Sixpack became popular when Srarah Palin started using it during the failed Republican campaign. I grabbed www.JoeSixPack.me (and JohnQPublic.me and JohnQPublic.US) in 2008.

Personally I prefer JohnQPublic (more dignified towards the average American), but I use JoeSixPack a lot since it is more recognized, and gives me a good lead in on a lot of topics (Someone says: 'J6P is too busy watching reality TV...', etc., I have a good lead in!).

GIM hasn't been quite the same for me since TENN ANDY banned me back in 2008.

He was as he said, "OFF THE RESERVATION" and he went on a banning spree. I had to change my name and rejoin. He banned me for 2 years for christs sake.

The post that got me banned was OBVIOUSLY MEANT AS SARCASM, but i didn't use the sarcasm emoticon thing. Freakin bs.

I honestly have barley looked through the new GIM (havent really had time and Im pissed as it is). Whats going on with the bannings and thread closings? I havent seen any, but again i havent spent much time there.

Doesnt suprise me in the least considering whos still running things over there though. I love how in the first "welcome" post they were saying its going to be MORE relaxed than GIM and more open, yet the two biggest douche bag mods who banned more people and closed more threads than any other mods by far are the one running things over there. Now theres all these reports of threads disapearing and peopl being banned left and right. Yeah, I think we need to save as many as we can.

I'll prolly post less 911 stuff than I used to, '05-06-07-etc were productive years for truth dissemination, but now most who are going to wake up are awake, and it's diminishing returns trying to reach those still in the dark- they're still in the dark for a reason after all! 911 Truth is baked into the cake for the reality based community at this point, people are even less afraid of fingering the zio-perps than they once were; but the truth after all is self evident. I spend alot less time monitoring 911 blogs etc, just not learning much new myself at this point. After 5+ years with GIM as my internet homepage their suicide was a major shock.
