A high level Coke exec spilled the beans to me
I feel obliged to pass along this information. While on vacation earlier this month, I stayed next door to a guy who's been in the beverage industry since before I was born. He works for Coke, and ever since Coke bought Vitamin Water, an acquisition he helped initiate, he's been working primarily for Coke's subsidiary Glaceau, the company that makes Vitamin Water. To make a long story short, he told me some damning things about Coke, Diet Coke, Vitamin Water, and the beverage industry as a whole. One night the combination of guilt, too much wine, and the ***** attitude of the South Pacific led him to really spill the beans. In a nutshell, here's what he said:

1. The introduction of New Coke back in the 80's was intended to fail. The real reason New Coke was introduced was to function as a subterfuge and allow time for the changing of Coke's original recipe from including cane sugar to corn syrup. Coke knew that if they simply switched from cane sugar to corn syrup, there would be a public outcry, but if they switched to corn syrup after New Coke, the public would welcome the change back to the near-original formula. It worked. Coke switched to corn syrup without a hitch. Apparently, the only way one can still find Coke with cane sugar and no corn syrup is during Passover (I think). Coke makes a drink called Kosher Coke (can anyone confirm this?) that only uses cane sugar. It's very similar to the old Coke formula.

2. Coke knew all along that the Diet Coke they sent to the troops during the first Gulf War contributed to Gulf War Syndrome. Apparently aspartame breaks down above 80-something degrees. Anyway, when it breaks down it becomes far more poisonous. The pallets of Diet Coke that were sent to the troops sat out in the desert heat, cooking for days, before they were finally chilled and drank by the troops. Similarly, Coke knows about aspartame poisoning, as do many companies, but keeping from the public the dangers of excitotoxins and other chemical additives is a top priority. He said that only the pharmaceutical industry spends more money pushing their poisons. Aspartame is far worse than most people know. I asked about fluoride in Coke, and he says that there is fluoride in Coke products, but not as much as in most cities' tap water, and he didn't believe fluoride is as bad as I thought it was. :glare:

I hate to break it to you all, but almost all foods that you buy at a supermarket are poison.

You all really need to read "Fasting and eating for health, by Joel Fuhrman. He lays out the poisonous facts nicely, pulling no punches.

My wife and I are switching to an almost vegan diet after this fast is over.
We both enjoy meat, cheese, milk and other animal based foods, but we are going to make a drastic reduction to our intake.

it never ceases to amaze me just how tainted/ poisoned our 'food' and water supplies have become...

power over the sheep's food/water supply comes with it power over the sheep's mind/body, it is the ultimate form of control.

i own fasting and eating for health- and it is well worth owning. as is Fuhrman's 'eat to live'

i have been eating vegan for a little while now. i used to really enjoy meat, cheese, milk, etc-
but now you could not pay me enough to eat those same animal products...

Good to hear! I bought a second copy for my parents last week, adn my father is halfway through it. He is gearing up for a 10 day fast after reading half the book. I pray my mother will do the same, for 40 days! (HAHA, she needs to lose weight. It's going to kill her)

I'm on day 8 and feeling fantastic!

maybe that's one of the advantages of being old enough to live in pre-Aspartame times, for example the '60's. i remember when artificial sweeteners were first introduced, it was a curiosity my father - a chemical engineer - showed me.

There's a store here that sells a Dutch Coke that is made with real sugar too. In fact they have tons of sodas made with real sugar and will ship them to you. I should note that I'm in no way affiliated with the store, just a fan. Here is a link: http://www.popsoda.com/

Why drink anything but filtered water and unsweetened green tea?
What does thirst have to do with sugar intake?
If you are suffocating, you are not sniffing cologne, you are gasping for air.
Same is with thirst. Drink water.

I can get Coke made with real sugar at Costco. It is bottled in Mexico. I've also seen some Italian made soda (no HFCS) available in some vending machines around here.

White tea, if you're so inclined.

Non-bleached tea bags.

Organic.

Black tea is fermented green tea. Fermentation greatly reduces the antioxidant levels in tea. Green tea is a superfood.

I remember arriving at work a while ago to find a vagrant sitting amongst his swag after just waking up on my office door step. He was drinking a can of coke which I assume he purchased at the greasy spoon a few doors down.

I said g'day, as we Aussies are want to do. He said, mate can you spare 2 bucks for a can of coke. I am very thirsty. I looked at the guy, then I looked at the outside tap about 10 feet away. Then I looked to the other side where another tap was about 8 feet away. All free of course.

I said sorry mate. fresh out of change.

Later when I went outside there were 2 x 20cent pieces laying on the step. Not enough for a coke so who needs it. I have a little outside stash of a few bucks from coins that I find laying about.

I'll chuck it his way if I see him again but I'm sure he'll just go blow it all on coke.

Most green tea at stores are crap and give green tea a bad name. Try Matcha. This is what the Japanese drink. It's very high quality and it's in powder form. It makes a vibrant cloudy green tea that has a natural flowery aroma. This is the tea Bhuddist monks drink when they meditate. I actually catch a mild high off of it rather than the jittery feeling. First time I tried it I thought, ah, this is where Zen comes from.

Trust me on this. If you like tea, get some Matcha.

I am not so sure about non-bleached tea-bags. In the late 80's I worked in a forest and paper wood company in Sweden, and I spoke to one of the chemist at a paperplant... He said he would never drink coffee brewed through a non-bleached coffee filter. The reason, he said, was that in unbleached paper pulp you had dome really nasty toxins, from wood, and the bleaching process neutralized these chemicals...

Never double-checked if it was true, probably better not to use teabags at all actually...

You always want to go whole leaf, if you can, when we talk about tea. There are four grades of tea, based on size and breakage.

Grade 1) is Whole Leaf Tea. You can rebrew these leaves 3-7 times in a day and the flavor and intricacies of the tea will change with each brew.

Grade 2) is broken whole leaf tea. Tasty enough, and sometimes this grade will allow you to get a more expensive tea, which is affordable because it is grade 2.

Grade 3) fell through the sifters, but still has some bulk to it. This is the "shake" of the tea world.

Grade 4) is the dust left over. This is what goes into a teabag, normally.

While it's true that black tea has been fired, reducing its vitamin and anti-oxidant levels, it is still high in these elements. The firing of black tea also raises its caffeine content.

Tea is the best source of caffeine, if you are inclined to drink caffeine. The half-life of caffeine that comes from tea is such that it will never give you a crash, no matter how much you drink. Tea is gentle yet strong - I can make you a cup of tea much stronger than a pot of coffee. But there won't be a crash, and that's because of the relatively long (6+hours) halflife of tea.

My favorite tea is black tea with lavender, or white tea. Green tea is awesome. White tea is godly. You need some skill at brewing tea to correctly brew white tea - it's too delicate to use boiling water.

Recently I have been drinking fermented tea. As in, I add a bacteria culture to my tea, with sugar, and let it ferment for 3 weeks. This is called Kombucha. (Not everybody likes the taste)

My favorite tea is black tea with lavender, or white tea.

The reason all these relatively great sodas are available in other countries, is because in those countries, cane sugar is cheaper than HFCS. The only reason HFCS is cheaper in America is because we have heavy subsidies which a) artificially raise the price of sugar and b) artificially lower the price of HFCS. The whole beverage sweetener market is one that has been artificially created. Those other countries using real sugar: it makes economic sense for them to do so.

I haven't drank a coke since I was a kid.

Soda was created with the idea of it to be used as a dessert drink, hence the sugar.

I like Boylan sodas, when I get the crave. Black cherry and Cane cola. They are delicious and made with cane sugar, not HFCS.

In the summer the best way to quench thirst is take a quart of filtered water, add the juice of 1 organic lemon, a little organic cane sugar and maybe glutamine, taurine and creatine powders if you work out, also a bit of Concentrace mineral drops too.

Save yourself money and make your own lemonade or iced green tea.

I have a cup of fresh ground, organic, black coffee in the morning.

I'll drink water or herb teas (that I harvest) throughout the day. I'm drinking sassafrfass, lemon balm, and pennyroyal-- I harvested all 3 myself.

About 3 in the afternoon I'll have a cup of green tea or yerba Mate.

I never add sugar.

During lent, I'll dig up the dandelion roots in my yard and roast them for a "coffee" and give up caffiene. Dandelions are realy good for an internal spring cleaning.

I am to understand that sassafrass tea makes a person giddy with laughter. Care to comment on that rumor?

My favorite drink is just water with lemon in it. No sugar. It regulates water retention, alkalyzes the body, tastes good, hydrates.

If really concentrated. Safrole (I believe that's the word) an active ingredient, can be a hullucinogen. I used to into ethnogens ;)

In normal amounts, it cleanses the system, cools (especially when mixed with lemonbalm and mint), slight aphrodesiac, and it does give an overall good feeling. There was a study where lab rats aquired liver cancer when given safrole, but the amount they were given was 5,000 times what you would get in tea and it was given on a daily basis.

A good friend of mine introduced me to Club Soda. Zero sugar, zero calories, etc. Just carbonated water with some sodium added. How much sodium depends on the brand you purchase.

It is a fantastic substitute for soda, or even beer if you are trying to slow down.

Carbonated drinks are not harmless, I think they raise chances of esophageal cancer and may leach calcium out of bones. Drink water.

The acidity of carbonation might affect it, but it's usually the phosphoric acid in soda that's very devastating to bones. Teenage girls should NEVER drink soda because that is when most of the Ca is laid down. That is why so many women are getting osteoporosis at such a young age. They never had good bones to begin with.

Don`t even start giving me applauds. You see, the ideology of Stalinism which is basically National-Socialism minus extreme racism (Stalinists can and do raise legitimate ethnic questions and while judging every individual on the basis of his/her actions they also judge the overall performance of every race and nation) is the only one that insures the long-term survival of human species. When presented by a classy, humorous and respectful person like Occamsrazor this ideology becomes seductive.

So instead of applauds keep giving me smites (semites?).

PS. I saw some fat bitch on TV who said junk food is as addictive as heroin. I thought why not lock her up, shoot her 4 times/day with heroin, then throw her out on the street and then see what she says?
This is the subtle way by TPTB of making people think dope is not really addictive.
