See...that's the issue with this 'forum karma' nonsense - you can't see who's smiting your or giving you an applaud, and what exactly it's for. Which is why I think the whole thing is silly.

If I smite someone I tell 'em in that thread, and generally I only smite the ones which have no smites already. I think it's cowardly to smite someone anonymously without telling them. One poster who doesn't like another poster could be the only one smiting them, racking up several smites. I suspect that is what is happening to a number of posters here.
