View Full Version : A woman's forum

I know I sound like a shit stirring, broken record but isnt it time for a woman's forum ?????
It would give all the Ladies from GIM from the past a place to gather.
I have been posting on a survival forum with a woman's forum. It creates no problems that I can see. In fact it sets a tone for welcoming, respecting and keeping more woman on the forum. Please consider it..

Good to see you here Avalon!

Good luck with your forum request. Anything to balance the site is good in my book.

Hey Tech Guy, nice to see you too.. BTW, I think i accidently just smited you.. I saw the button and wanted to see what it did so I pushed it.. sorry :( Can I un-smite you..LOL

I have been watching the dynamics on that survival board with the women's board. its a huge forum.. No problems that I can see. None of the dreaded fears of misbehavior that have been sited as the reason for never having a woman forum on GIM. The board is more balanced and although i dont have a statistics I would guess a fourth of the posters might be woman.

It would also be a great way to gather all woman who have departed GIM over the years.

I don't get it, what would you talk about in the women's forum?

I'm not saying it is a bad idea, I just don't understand what it's for.

Good to see you by the way, I don't remember why you left GIM1, but I think you did leave for some reason (before it shut down), am I right?

You can Smite me, too, if you would like.

<------you know you want to.

As for the idea of a woman's forum, let me say...

I left GIM the first time after the meltdown over the women's board. I came back after a few months under a new name

There is never a lack of topics for women to come up with. ;D
What would we discuss? Well there is a great thread on that board right now about how a woman retains her feminine identity when she is covered in gun oil with a 9 mm strapped on side. [did you know gun oil dissolves nail polish?]
There are threads about dating men who are or are not preppers, the dreaded thread on tampons, special needs of women and children during SHTF.
There appears to be no tension over the issue there. Its just another board. Some men visit and ask questions.. no problem, no big deal.. as it should be..

Seems reasonable to me. You might want to wait until there is at least one other woman here to chat with though, lol. (there probably is one or two, just joking, sort of)

OK Avalon.........there should be a ladies (only) room where you would be the queen bee and with the key to allowed only the ladies to come in........otherwise.......Ponce would be sneaking in all the time and taking on your threads.

Ponce = many male members hahahahahah ;D

YES on a Women's Forum.

Only don't make it "women only," just women-oriented.

Avalon
5th April 2010, 07:11 AM
Ponce, I dont need to be queen bee on a forum. In real life I am in an all male survival group..I blend in quite well and cause no problems..

This is where the problem started last time.. I didn't say anything about it being exclusive or protected.. Just another subforum like others.. Anyone can visit.

The whole GIM women's board fiasco started because the owners of GIM decided a ladies board needed to be password protected. I knew that would be a disaster and saw no need for it..And sure enough it was a disaster but then I think they knew it would be.. LOL

Hey Avalon... you here too?

Looks like I'm headed back to the US this summer after I sell off the remnants of my life up here. Just my eldest son & I. Hoping the real estate in Phoenix is at their bottom just for me...

Hope things are good with you and yours.

I can handle the idea of a non-password-protected womens' forum...

As a matter of fact, I think my wife might be joining this place today.

We seem to have more women per capita here than at GIM2.

When we get settled in i will tell you guys about a funny story from my real life survival group. We had an alpha female join the nearly all male group...It was a classic case of the immovable testerone meets the unstoppable estrogen. It all came to a head when she told the guys needed to stop drinking beer at meetings.. It was all downhill from there.

Avalon just got a bag of popcorn and quietly watched the fireworks.. Any woman in her with mind knows you dont mess with a man and his beer. The Biss called it liquid bread to men..

Speaking of the Biss where is he?

It would seriously up the demographics of woman.. Of course some may not view that as a good thing.. LOL

Welcome Avalon!

I guess I don't really have an opinion on this. I can't think of anything I would post here that I would want to post in a women's section as opposed to the general forum. Especially if men would be able to read it anyhow?

I was there for the womans forum melt down. I was there for womens forum melt down number 2 (which wasnt nearly as bad as the first).

Besides, we already have a cooking sub-forum...... :o :o

Im kidding ladies, Im kidding. Please, dont kill me!!!

But in all seriousness, if you want one, never hurts to ask for it, but beware, this is a GIM crowd, just be carefull avalon. The hornets nest isnt hard to stir with us GIM'ers.

I think it's a seriously great idea to have a women's sub-forum, there's no reason we can't have something like that, and the women of GiM1 were very valuable members, and we were always in danger of losing them for some reason.

Put up the women's forum, my request is no password so that anybody can read and comment in it. Then make avalon and several other female members the mods of that particular board. If they wish they can issue temp-bans for that sub-forum only, this should solve any unwelcomed trolling.

That's how I would set it up. I think it's a great idea. Lot's of benefits and no real downside.

Although, when it comes down to it, I prefer to think of us as one big happy family! I only want this if it'll bring us *together* by letting us all understand ourselves better.

Hell, make a men's subforum too with the same rules if ya think it's unfair.

I don't think the women's forum would need a new moderator. I don't think that would be necessary.

I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other, but I think it's worth a try. I joined GIM after the controversy about the women's forum - as long as it was done as you sugggested, Avalon, and was open to everyone - I can't see what the difficulty was. A password protected subforum is just silly. Any woman who joins a site like this is someone who can think for herself - besides, I think most men would simply be bored by most of the "women's topics," and any initial interest on their part would soon wane.

That is now a hate crime. Odd that women DEMANDED equal rights and now are here demanding a "special" section just for them...lol.

Another great idea!

I created a Ladies, gentlemen and families forum. All of it should be somewhat family friendly, so please keep it that way. WT and I and any new moderators will work to keep it safe.
