Went to the store yesterday, and WTH!!!! Onions (which are typically 0.50-0.60/lb around here) went up a full dollar a pound! Didn't notice much of an increase in other produce...
Did something suddenly happen to the onion crop?

Hmmm. Hadn't noticed. I usually buy a large bag and they last quite a while. I'll have to check it out.

GAillo? ALL CROPS ARE IN TROUBLE........even those overseas......here in the states the crop has been so bad that King Burger will ask you if you want them on your burger.

Whats up with that. Grocery store has lots of onions around here, a little more than normal, but walla walla sweets are worth it! :)

I noticed that about onions recently, too.
We have been buying everything we eat at primarally three places: (1) Costco, (2) PCC (Puget Consumers Co-Op, the local organic Co-Op), and (3) at Grocery Outlet, a place we affectionately call "Used Food" because they sell seconds, etc.
Whenever I walk into a "real" store I'm always shocked at the prices.
Let's face it, our FRN's aren't getting any more valuable.

Stores are trying to make money off the people who don't buy in bulk - check the differences per-lb between 1 lb loose, 2-3 lb bags, and the 5 and 10 lb bags of onions.

I just purchased seed potatoes at 29 cents a pound and onion sets at 89 cents a pound. Nice cheap, CHEAP food, once they have grown that is. Can't wait for fried spuds with onions this fall, YUMMY!!!!!! To hell with grocery store prices... In fact, I may just go get more seed spuds tomorrow for sh*ts and giggles....
I hope everyone here has the chance to grow at least a portion of their food. Even if it is just a single tomoto plant on their balcony, grow something folks!!

Geez, at my store they had 50 lb bags for 10 bucks! I would have bought one or two, but I still have some left over from the garden.

it's mostly from the SAG (strategic aerosol geo-engineering) One post I read from california is that the suns energy is at about 40% due to this. Another claims the fallout from said spraying is causing huge devastation on soil conditions due to the aluminum messing shit up.
I never believed this crap and you shouldn't either but it is what it is.
This sky crap will stop soon enough, my concern is the breathing of said contaminants.
Not to mention that they shut of CA;s main water aquifer last year to save tiny fish or something like that. This is mostly from memory as I didn't have a personal backup on an old trusted site.
Also the new agenda 21 (?) is not allowing produce not inspected and licensed by the new agency. I think I read that it only costs a few million to get that license.

Most all produce has risen, one of the biggest factors is the cost of shipping (gas), even if you live in a region that produces it, although I got some "field" grown tomatos today that were absolutley delicious, $2.00 lb, in the grocery store, the ones that are gassed and pink were $3.49 lb

soon approaching the cost of beef. chicken is cheaper and so is pork, I have to reapply the WTF deal again. This makes NO sense even with the cost of fuel!
