Nice looking catfish. Do you feed them? It sure looks like they are coming up for feed.

It would have to be full on SHTF for me to eat catfish. Good plan though unless the SHTF consists of nuclear fallout poisoning your pond.

Cats are very good if cooked right ,tastes like chicken lol ! If fall out poisons the pond I ,I think I will have bigger problems to worry about.

I have a 500 gallon Koi pond, which my two teenage sons want me to convert to a catfish pond. I'm actually thinking of digging a new pond on a different area. What is the minimum, or is there a minimum size to raise catfish to edible size?

How did you get your fish so big? I have a decent sized pond (1/4 acre, maybe more) and I have about 7 or 8 catfish and a number of bass and some smaller ones in it. We just started in with tossing the dog food recently, but last year (just moved here) I caught a couple cats and bass and all were throwbacks. Those are some growing fish you got there. Also, I don't have any kind of a bubbler or whatever that is you have there. Could use your 2 cents on how to get fish to mature. I stocked with some feeder minnows about 4 lb. a few weeks ago and we have a quintillion tadpoles scooting around in there also, just hatched over the last week or two.

Thanks for the picture sscrapper. I would be interested in having a catfish pond as a food source in and outside of a SHTF scenario.
Also, some rabbits, goats, and those miniature cows as well, but thats another topic. :)
