Let's say that I have a small company in China making a wigget for $10.00 that I was selling in the US for $13.00, ok?
Now then.......the price to made this wigget went up by $2.00 which now would cost me $12.00 to make, ok?
I am ready to sell it in the US but......the dollar has gone down 50% so that to the price in the US will now be of $16.50........
Is not that the price went up but that the dollar came down.......and the lower the dollar the higher the price of the wigget AND EVERYTHIING ELSE.

If that happens, the guy making the widgets for $14 and couldn't compete with the $10 imported widget, can now compete with the $16.50 imported widget.

Sure, but the unions will make sure that the guy making the wiggets here in the states also goes to china to make his.........greed of the unions is what screw up the companies here in the states and why they went overseas.

I believe I first heard the term stagflation in 2008 (I was 20 then, assume what you will) when I joined the kitcomm forums, the first person I saw mention it was the man himself GotGoldies. Since then I have stuck with the stagflation party, avoiding choosing a deflation/inflation side. We are and will see both rampant inflation and deflation along with higher and higher UE rates.

Of course the cost of the widget won't necessarily go up. They will fist make it smaller for the same price. Then they will substitute all the metal in the wonderfull widget with plastic; The widget will fail as soon as you try to widge with it. Then they will pass a law stating that only specially trained people may widget and the cost of this training will go to inside widget companies who's lobbyists got the legislation passed and this will be funnelled back to augment capital returns making the widget seem to cost the same. When all this fails they will finally stop making widgets and come out with the 'widget2' which contains nothing resembling the workings of a widget but it will be politically incorrect to point this out and sheeple will run around with non-functioning widgets that they have convinced themselves are the finest products on earth.
Slightly cynical. I know.

You must be in the widget business, woodman, you seem to have an in-depth understanding.

Yep, I see that happening at the dollar store and at Waly's world.......
What was 44 square feet is now 24......what was 64 oz is now 32......what was 36 load of clothing is now 26..........things that they can change they will change and things that they cannot change they will sell till they stop selling them.....
Small American flags that I pay $1.00 for them their cost is of 0.37 cents.

I guess you haven't heard about the Toilet paper termite of North America. It has enjoyed a resurgence of late. It's much smaller and harder to detect than the standard termite. It eats the roll from the inside out and leaves no dust or residue. So what appears to be TP rolls might just be hollow props.
And I'll bet you don't know why silver fish are silver.
