What are your truck-Automobile guns?

Here's the typical on the "Console Holster" (CZ-82). Actually I keep one inside the console (I also have a Bulgy Makarov there now).

The "Seat Buddy" (Hi-Point) is nice but difficult to reach for a cross-draw.

Personally, I prefer the "Kingston Holster" (Glock 26) that fits between the legs. Easily accessible and out of the way.

A couple "cheap" carbines/rifles under the back seat or in the "easy rider rifle rack" in the back window works as well. I don't want to carry expensive or nice firearms in the dusty and muddy oil patch. Sometimes I run across a coyote or two while in the field.

I like that kingston holster idea (seat buddy isnt too bad either, but I'd never be able to cross draw it). I might have to make one of those as what I tend to do is take my side arm out of my IWB holster and just stick it between the seat and center console while Im in the car. Its nigh impossible to get it out of the IWB holster in a hurry with a seat belt on, or just in general and I really dont like it "unsecured" sandwhiched in the seat. It works and its easy to get, but I'd prefer a good holsters. Maybe Ill hang my uncle mikes down the middle of the seat like that.

I wouldnt leave one like that though, cause then anyone looking in your windows can see it and might decide "hey, I want that gun"....

Sometimes, if I remember, I'll leave a high point in the glove box as a back up.

I really like that Kingston Holster. I'll look into that - Maybe I'll make my own.

Thanks - good thread.

How does the kingston holster strap attach to the seat? Does it go completley around it and buckle, or is something just shoved into the rear of the seat and held in by tension and sitting on it?

It wraps around the seat and has a snap clip and velco on the holster strap. It is adjustable and easy to attach.

Firearms in plain view within a vehicle is asking for trouble. No upside. None.

Sorry.

Im glad you brought this back up. I made my own little seat holster this weekend out of some left over leather. Took a strap and strapped it around my seat the same way. Havent driven anywhere yet, but i've tested it and its comfortable so far; its nice.

The big reason I wanted it was so I could put my CCW peice somewhere while I was driving, since its very hard to reach it in the holster while sitting and buckled in my car. I was just sticking it between the seat and center console before, but it was starting to mess up the center console's side.

This way, I can reholster before getting out of the car, and have it more accesable while in the car than in the console or glove box. In florida, the law simply states "securley in cased/holstered" while in the car and its very, very hard to see it while Im sitting there, since I got some big legs ;)

Another variation of Kingston holster... I once had an old Ford truck with a bench seat. It had a heavy blue denim seat cover. Sewn into the front of the bottom seat cover was a pocket with more than enough room to hold a 4" 38 Special revolver completely out of sight and accessible between the legs.
Anyone could sew a pouch on the front of their seat cover to fit whatever gun they want to hide. With a bench seat you could even have a long pouch to hold a shotgun out of sight.

Currently I have a holster screwed to my console just below my right knee. Butt forward was the only way I could make it fit. I drape a dark colored washcloth over it to hide my Sig.

My truck gun is a SIG P556.

Modified the center console so it fits right in.

The weapon is listed specifically on my CC permit so even a hard case can't start any nonsense about a longarm being loaded in the vehicle.

what state do you live in, CC? Having to list pistols on a CCW is one thing, but long guns too!?!

The SIG P556 is a pistol. Problem with it is it can be mistakenly identified as an altered rifle--with the attending BS until properly categorized..

Google it and you will see what I mean.

Live in Nevada, a VERY FRIENDLY weapons state.

ah, ok, sorry for the misunderstanding. Im in Florida, so its odd enough to have to list weapons on a CCW (asking permission to enjoy a right aside), I thought they were making you put a long gun on there too!

Nevada just dropped us from their permit accepted states, which means we dropped them too :(
