Great stuff.

I have a plot of land here in Costa that I'm planning on converting into something more or less along these lines. Though mine is more a "berm" style with poured concrete.

Drainage is a main concerns in the construction from the get go, along with the lot selection.

I've always wanted a roof that has room to grow on... :)

Thnx.

"officials were unable to find any records, let alone planning permission, for the mystery hillside village surrounded by trees and bushes.

They insisted the grass-covered buildings should be demolished.

Why the hell can't they just let people on private property alone to live and let live? Effin Goobermint busybodies.

Anyone can type in their address at Google Maps and click on the Satellite View to see what their place looks like from above.

the US & UK governments are amazingly passive aggressive.

"we want to promote sustainability. but, if you're going to reduce your living costs to near zero - give us some MONEY ! ... or we'll bulldoze your ass."

i think eventually an armed eco-village will have a gun-fight with the US/UK government.

or maybe that's what happened at Ruby Ridge.

so ... it was a reflection off a solar panel that gave it away. i guess if you're going to run an eco-village as a covert operation, you really need to engineer the stealth qualities of the village. including considering the thermal signature from above.

This reminds me of something I saw on a Penn and Teller "Bullshit" episode many years ago. Some guy in Canada made a whole town underground using old schoolbusses, the authorities figured out what he was doing and condemned the place and put up "no tresspassing" and "no entrance" signs... he was interviewed standing in front of one of the entrances, if I remember, trying to look sad, but he had that twinkle in his eyes that said "just wait until TSHTF, THEN we'll see who has the last laugh, suckahs!! ;D".

I've been seriously thinking about buying some land in CR

What's interesting is where I'm looking isn't really visible from Google Maps, even if you had the coordinates (you would never find it by address, I don't think it has one.)
