Today Aqaba was struck by a Katyusha rocket from outside Jordan. This rocket was a "Grad" model ,in other words the type fired from a truck platform, like the Soviets used in WWII. Now Im no genius, but I do know this model has a range of 25 miles or so, looking at the map, Aqaba has three possibilities being hit from outside Jordan, the Eilat area of Israel, Ras el Nasri in Egypt. or by internal launching. Jordan has stated that it was not fired internally, by the direction of its strike. that leaves Egypt or Israel as the point of launch, Egypt doesnt use this weapon in the Grad configuration any longer, Israel never did. BUT Israel has captured many of these systems over the years in wars with the Arabs. Is this Israel attempting to scare the Jordanians into helping in "The war on Terror/Man made disaster"? or did the Egyptian Army somehow miss a lone 1960s Soviet ,Stalins Organ, capable 2.5 ton truck wandering about the open desert? My paternal grandfather fought in this area in WWI and described the scenes from Lawrence of Arabia concerning the area surrounding Aqaba as very close to the truth,so going by what I heard firsthand about the region, im doubting any lone vehicle would be wandering about in the "Devil's Anvil" area of Jordan, which surrounds Aqaba. It is rather inhospitable to anything alive.Im going with israeli Intimidation, what says the forum?
