There are some things that are naturally carried and and everything must be utilized in an emergency, Here is what I usually have on me at any given time:

1. Surefire E2D Defender flashlight
2. Leatherman Tool
3. Glock 19 in MTAC holster
4. Extra magazines in ankle carrier
5. Pocket Knife
6. Leather Driving Gloves (depending on weather)
7. Keys (two sets - not shown)
8. Cell Phone
9. Bandana
10.Wallet (not shown)

EDC is an interesting topic that I've been spending a fair amount of time on recently, including a lot of time over at http://edcforums.com/forum.php.

I'd like to see more discussion here, so I'll list out some of my EDC gear, and hopefully get around to editing this post or adding a follow-up post with pictures.

Here's what I carry:
3 blades (Benchmade Doug Ritter Mini-RSK, Gerber Clutch, Victorinox SwissCard Lite (VSL))
4 flashlights (Photon Freedom Micro, Fenix PD10, Fenix E01, VSL red LED)
3 pens (Pico Pen, Zebra F-701, VSL)
6 screwdrivers (Country Comm screw keys, Gerber Clutch, VSL) <- each of those have both Phillips and flathead, so 3x2 = 6
2 tweezers (Country Comm tick tweezers, VSL)
2 fire starters (Country Comm mini-peanut lighter, magnifying lens in the VSL)
1 scissors (VSL)

The Victorinox SwissCard Lite goes in my wallet.

The Mini-RSK, Gerber Clutch, tick-tweezers, mini-peanut lighter, Photon Freedom Micro, Fenix PD10, and Pico Pen are all on a cable key ring from Country Comm.

The Fenix E01 and Country Comm screw keys are on my actual keyring with my car and house keys.

Of course, I've also got the standard phone, sunglasses, and wallet that I carry, and once I get my CCP, I'll start carrying my Ruger LCP with the Crimson Trace LG-431 laser sight.
