Bug Out Bag (BOB)

Should be need arrive that I have to evacuate my home then I will have to grab my "go to" rifle and "Bug Out Bag" (BOB) and hit the road to my "Bug Out Location" (BOL). I have an Alice Pack with enough gear for hopefully a minimum of three days.

My "go to" rifle in this case is a modified Russian AK-47 with two attached 30-round magazines and a vinyl magazine pouch with five 30-round magazines. The AK has attached a uni-green lasermax laser and AimSHOT holographic sight. This is a fairly decent short to intermediate range rifle.

Mounted to the pack and frame is a PSL-54C rifle (7.62x54R). A plastic canteen is clipped onto the pack and a U.S. military mummy bag rests on the top of and straps to the pack and frame.

The point of having the BOB as well as the companion Get Home Bag (GHB) is to be able to get to the Bug Out Location (BOL) where I am well stocked and can replenish supplies. Failing that, the BOB will help me get from cache to cache until I reach my final BOL destination where I can settle in to ride out the disaster. That said, my plan is to "bug in" as I already live in the high country.

How much does that BOB weigh?

Just curious, taking two rifles and a handgun? And if you have your GHB too you'll have 6 guns? 4 hand guns and 2 rifles...none sharing a common caliber? Just curious what your reasoning is behind this? Seems like wasted space and weight that could be used to carry more food or better shelter?

AK, PSL, CZ82, Tokarev, G19, and P64. Seems like a lot!

I like most of the other items though, some items to think about:

Bug spray,
Sun Block,
Snares (wire),
3-4 ways to start a fire (matches, fire steel, magnesium stater, fire paste, lighter, etc.) -- I only saw the Mag. Starter
Sleeping bag liner, -- adds warmth and keeps bag from getting dirty

Good job -- I'll post pictures of what I have together later.

No problem as I hike into the hills with a full pack several times during the year. I go into The Yellowstone, the Uintas, Big Horns, Absarokas, Bear Tooth Mtns and a few mountains in the Basin and Range in Utah and Idaho whenever I get a chance (the BOB pictures were in the Big Horns). WTSHTF, I plan to stay put but if al else fails I suspect a longer term existence in the field. This is why I also have several caches placed about with stores of freeze-dried food, ammo, etc. Of course all I have to do is step out my door and I'm just a few steps from National Forest or public lands.

The GHB also doubles as a range bag that I carry in the truck (just in case I find a place to shoot a few rounds) and I always carry a few guns and plenty of ammo in my truck all the time. My CCW is my G19 and the P-64 is my BUG. I carry a Tokarev where I live in the hills because we have a fair number of nuisance bears and the Tok is a better bear gun. The AK is mainly home defense (got several) and truck gun, and the PSL is what I have used in the past for elk hunting around here.

I keep a tube of sun block and a small spray bottle of DDT in my First Aid kit. Also have some Bic lighters. I have made snares using fishing filiment in the past with limited success. Not wooried about shelter as I have ponchos and have made "lean tos" from pine branches (try to smoke them out good for ticks).
