Many Americans are already painfully aware that violent crime is experiencing a massive upsurge in the United States. As the U.S. economy has tanked and as unemployment has skyrocketed, many Americans have found themselves becoming increasingly desperate. Hard economic times usually lead to an increase in crime, but what is happening across the U.S. now is absolutely stunning. In economically-troubled areas such as Detroit crime statistics are climbing into the stratosphere. In fact, there are many communities in the United States where it is simply not safe to go out at night anymore. Millions of Americans find themselves prisoners in their own homes as they lock themselves in their houses in an attempt to keep the crime out. The truth is that it is really hard to live the American Dream when there is a raging crime wave going on right outside your door. The truly frightening thing is that crime is almost certainly going to get even worse as economic conditions continue to deteriorate.

The following are ten facts about crime in the United States that will blow your mind....

#1) The city of Detroit, Michigan literally looks like a war zone and violent crime is thriving. So far this year in Detroit, car thefts are up 83%, robberies are up 50%, burglaries are up 20% and property destruction is up 42%.

#2) Lawmakers in Illinois say that violence has become so rampant in Chicago that the National Guard needs to be sent in. In just one night last week seven people were killed and 18 were wounded - mostly by gunfire. In fact, there have already been 113 murders in Chicago this year.

#3) The city of Phoenix, Arizona has become the car theft capital of the world as millions of illegal aliens who can't get work have found that stealing cars can be very profitable indeed.

#4) There are approximately 12 million crimes committed in the United States every single year. That is by far the worst in the world. No other nation has more than about 6 million reported crimes per year.

#5) In New York City, the number of homicides in the first quarter of the year had shot up by approximately 22 percent compared with 2009.

#6) U.S. prisons are already bursting at the seams. As you read this, there are over 2.2 million people in prison in the United States. In fact, America leads the world in the number of prisoners and in the percentage of the population in prison. The United States has 5% of the world's population, but 25% of the world's incarcerated population.

#7) U.S. law enforcement authorities claim that there are now over 1 million members of criminal gangs inside the country. These 1 million gang members are responsible for up to 80% of the crimes committed in the United States each year.

#8) There are over 100,000 rapes in the United States every single year. That is the highest number for any of the countries in the United Nations.

#9) According to USA Today, 58% of state and local law enforcement agencies in the United States reported that violent criminal gangs were active in their areas in 2008. That was up from 45% in 2004.

#10) Every year, one out of every five people is a victim of a crime in the United States. No other nation on earth has a rate that is higher.

Prison is to the criminal as Home Depot is to the illegal. It's the meeting place to find work.

So true! Although I don't know much about prison life, I do know that they get 3 meals a day, exercise time, a library, cable television, and sometimes internet access. To some people it is not punishment to give up the life they have for prison.

Could you show where the fact that they "can't get work" is shown to be the case rather than that is the "work" they choose to do?

ICE has even started to put some illegals in hotels since some "detention centers" don't have enough ammenities...

If any of this is true it's because our laws and our institutions are corrupt and rotten to the core. I just wonder how many people think our laws protect them? The laws and the people who (don't) enforce them are responsible for crime at all levels. The most damaging crime, and the one that is most rampant is FRAUD. There don't seem to be any laws against it, and where there are, the people enforcing them have been paid to look the other way.

What we have done is to 'deregulate' the government. Think about it. It means we have done away with all the laws. They no longer apply except as a punishment.

Crime, like 'terror' is another lever of fear mongering they use on us. We need to stop being afraid on cue.

You are so right ... you do not know anything about prison life.
[] 3 meals a day. Yup. Some of the most gawd awful crap, rotten and spoiled, watered down "drinks" - even the coffee! (It is common practice to "stretch" the commissary budget - and pad "someone's" account) Inmates often use their own money to buy "supplemental" food - like dehydrated soup mixes, to get by.
[] Exercise time. Yup. You can walk in your cell, in your pod, or if you're allowed out in the yard, you can walk or use the (ahem) exercise equipment... which in many cases is worn out junk. (The upscale Fed prisons and State prisons may be better equipped than the county pokey.)
[] Cable TV. Yup. Unfortunately, it's usually one TV, in the pod, fighting with the incessant noise of the cellies. And usually tuned to "Jerry Springer" reruns [He has a 24 hour feed to the prisons... :-) ]
[] If you think it's not punishment, you should ask for a tour of your local county lock up.

And for an even more in depth education, spend one to two weeks auditing a real criminal prosecution in your locale. You won't believe me if I told you the truth.

Reality is nothing like what you are fed by the propaganda ministry.

what about the biggest, most powerful, most destructive crime gang - the one that has Wall Street & Washington & Israel as its turf.

Points #4 and #6 are contingent on the fact that a staggering fraction of the total crimes committed and the total number of people imprisoned involves victimless crime, that is, where all parties were in consent (marihuana, prostitution, etc.).

These statistics make it nessessary to invent Russian "gulags" and the 40 million Stalin killed out of 180 million population which lost 27 million in WW2.
An average American thinks after reading these stats:" Well, at least I`m not like one of those Russkie sheep in the gulag".

It's called karma.

If you disregard God and humanity, allow godless cowards and khazars to run your country, and to rape and pillage other countries for your benefit - this is what you get back.

You can't let bandits run your gubbermint and hope that some pillaging will fall of in your lap too. It may, but only for so long.

You can't make financial fraud, guns and drugs to make your country's #1, 2 and 3 industries, and expect it NOT to backfire.

I am just hoping someone who's actually high up in the military reading this and paying attention, 'cause I really got no hope in the others....

feel free to throw smites my way.

I have toured my local jail and prison. I did a 6 week local "citizens on patrol" type of thing. I didn't eat their food or use their exercise equipment, though.

I am sure that what you have experienced is real. But even if that is true regarding the food or exercise or entertainment, I am OK with that, and I stand by my statement saying that for some people, they are happy with trading their lives for the that. (My exact words were: To some people it is not punishment to give up the life they have for prison).

Side note: What I found most fascinating in my tour was the 911 call operator facilities - those people have quite a lot to deal with. Second most fascinating is how the drug dogs are trained.

Since about 90% of prison populations in every country are homosexuals, jail is like harem for them

Most career criminals are looking forward to going to jail.
