The WWW never came about........what would you be doing?

Where do you think that the country would be now....?

The financial market.......?

Schools?

Your kids with no games or cell phone?

Lot to think about..........

My internet time has replaced basically 3/4ths of my former reading/study time.

Of course I'm still doing about the same thing just in a different, less regulated, form.

Reading, talking with others, and probably playing sports.

There's so many things I would not have seen. So many horrible, horrible things.
For instance, there was this guy that sat on a jar...

The internet has changed my life about 60%........specially now that I am retired.

The internet is both a valuable tool and a time waster. Before the internet, I read more books and produced more.

I got online in 1997 with dialup and used it sparingly, but saw the power of real-time interaction. My first experience with that real-time interaction was while restoring an old Airstream. I found a couple of forums with Airstream enthusiasts and made my first post with some repair questions. Within a short time, I had several helpful answers, including where to source the parts. That turned on a light and I've been hooked since.

I realize now though, unless you are specifically doing something, the internet is a waste of time...and I've wasted plenty of time with all the info-tainment.

Hahahahahahah Serpo.......... in 1998 I read and article about the Khazar, curious as I am I read it and that article gave me links to other articles and so on, it was then that I learned that not all "Jews" are the same.

Up till that time to me the Jews were the ones in black with a funny little hat that liked to bang their heads against a wall while praying.......and you know what?, they are still the same ones..........but........ I then found the Khazar-European-Zionist-wana be Jews trouble makers that are the one operating from behind the curtain and controlling most of what is going on in this world.

If for nothing else I am glad for the WWW.

I am pretty sure I wouldn't be so well informed about conspiracies that I am today... But maybe I would be richer, because I have spent alot of time on the net, getting informed, however I am happy with what I have, and probably I would have my wealth in a bank account in fiat, which will go worthless one of these days... But who knows!

without the internet, I would be a lot less prepared.

and a lot less confused.... ???

everyone knows you can't believe anything you read on the internet. ;)

There was a time when I got my gold and silver prices from a weekly newspaper.

Of course the gold and silver prices you get instantly today are the result of massive paper intervention, that the Internet is to a large extent is responsible for!

Maybe, but the prices in my newspaper were much lower.

(I have just been dying to use that. Thanks for the opportunity, chad.)

This is a mind-blowing question for me, because I work in the IT business. It's the only job I have ever had and the only marketable skill I have ever known.

I guess I would have been an engineer or an architect, or maybe developing different kinds of software. After all, the question was about the internet, not the computer . . .

Other than this place and the place before this place, I really don't spend time on a computer for entertainment. I don't want to sit at a computer any more than I have to.

I probably never would have discovered gold. I would have never prepared.

Work with a pencil and use the telephone. I don't need a computer or the internet to work in my profession. It makes it easier, that's all.

I second those thoughts k-os, as a fellow techno-slave.

I would probably be either a lawyer or philosophy professor.

I would not own any guns, gold or stores of food. No (real) water filtration either.

Oh, I would probably get a lot more work done!

Galen..........you are so right.........I believe that we would not be so messed up if it was not for the internet..........kids would be a lot smarter with just plain paper and pencil and that's something that we should go back to because it would exercised the mind more instead of the fingers.

And you all are also right about being better prepared because that's how I found the hole in the wall that made me move out of CA in order to get my preparations ready.

You're brave. I'd be at a porn shop 100 plus miles away wearing a turban as a disguise.

It makes everything I do more efficient. Research is easy and can learn/find in 100x the same amount of time. I don't watch a lot of tv - but now when I do watch some tv - I watch what I want, when I want.

Also, shopping - I don't have to do it much - order the shit online and done.

Used to write ALOT of Letters. Anyone remember a "postcard"?

Funny how that now the email is instant, but everything else involved seems to make it just as time consuming...

and NO PRIVACY?

too much info, so please go gently back to sleep...

I run my business, social life, political life...crap my entire life on the Internet.

I'd probably go back into culinary. I originally was there before I started my Internet business. There's a huge niche market in gluten-free products, and being someone who has a gluten allergy I'd look to create a food related business that caters to gluten-free products. There's a lot of money there, and it's a rapidly growing industry.
