NEW YORK (Reuters) – Police evacuated New York's Times Square on Saturday night for what officers at the scene called an "emergency investigation" and dozens of officers blocked access to the busy central Manhattan square.
The square was evacuated shortly after 8 p.m., according to Reuters reporters on the scene. Emergency vehicles were seen clustered at the south end of the square as well as in some streets leading into the area.

According to the above link for the camera “The stream is temporally unavailable to the public.†As can be expected, I guess they don’t want us viewing the scene of the crime.
From Sky news (http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/World-News/New-York-Times-Square-Evacuated-After-Car-Containing-Explosives-Is-Discovered/Article/201005115623779?lpos=World_News_Carousel_Region_0&lid=ARTICLE_15623779_New_York_Times_Square_Evacuat ed_After_Car_Containing_Explosives_Is_Discovered)
New York's Times Square has been evacuated after the discovery of a car containing explosives.
A dark-coloured sports car was found to contain explosives, gasoline, propane and burned wires, a New York Fire Department officer told Reuters.
The officer, who did not give his name because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said a man was seen fleeing the car.
Police evacuated several blocks around the popular tourist area in the centre of Manhattan in case there were other devices.
The officer said the car was smoking and there were popping sounds.
The car was said to be a "failed device."
More follows...
A sports car isn’t exactly ones first choice for a car bomb due to a lack of capacity/volume but it could work in ones favor. As it’s not likely to draw as much suspicion as a van parked unattended in areas it shouldn’t be.
Should be interesting to see how this story develops.
