I think some former vets should be held against their will in the USA.

I don't. Knew a guy that worked on one of the teams that would go in country and research accounts of shootdowns, crash sites, firefights, etc., and then look for them. I asked him that question specifically, and he told me there was no evidence they could find of that. I believed him.

Now go back to Korea, and I'm willing to bet US POWs lived out their days in Chinese or Soviet camps long after the war ended. I don't have any specific, smoking gun evidence - just my gut feeling.

It is a bit odd, that I see a POW MIA flag flying over every U.S. Post Office and every Pro Sports Team Stadium.

Try not to get overly dramatic my friend. Say it, don't spray it.

Are American G.I.'s being held against their will in SE Asia?

Yes, whenever the Navy takes shore leave at Pattaya.

Are they still considered POW's if they pay and enjoy it?

Hmmm....

A sleepy beachside town on the Gulf of Thailand where our sailors can relax and catch up on their beach reading.

That's one way of putting it.

Here's another: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_Thailand#Sex_tourism)

Thailand is a major destination for tourists from the Western World who travel to this country to have sex with prostitutes. Sex tourism in Thailand can trace its origins to the presence of American military on rest and recreation leave during the Vietnam War [21].The huge economic disparities between Thai locals and the Western tourists contribute to the proliferation of sex tourism to Thailand.

Child sex tourism is a serious problem in the country. Thailand, along with Cambodia, India, Brazil and Mexico has been identified as a leading hotspot of child sexual exploitation.

Do you beleive G.I.'s are being held against their will in SE Asia?

I doubt there are as many as there once were, which numbered a few thousand.

Yes, it's documented -

I doubt any more than just a few still survive if at all,Is been 30+ yrs. as far as Korea went, the Russians after the dissolution of the USSR admitted they had kept UN POWs after the war in the USSR .This wasnt actually a new thing except for the US. up until Vietnam, the US had never had to withdraw from a major engagement.most other nations have experienced this in the past, Germany had thousands of non returning POWs from the USSR after WWII, the French, British also had conflicts where their men werent returned. on a smaller note those cynical with the "alls fair" attitude, should remember that line next time GITMO is brought up.

Here is an excellent book on the subject

An Enormous Crime: The Definitive Account of American POWs Abandoned in Southeast Asia
http://www.amazon.com/Enormous-Crime-Definitive-Abandoned-Southeast/dp/0312385382/ref=sr_1_23?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1272807945&sr=1-23

The jist of the book is Nixon and Kissinger promised Vietnam reperations in exchange for our pow's. They went first releasing half the POW's in operation Homecoming.
Then Watergate happened and Nixon was trying to save himself and reneged on the deal.

The book shows satelite pictures all the way into the 90's. The pictures show call signs and numbers used by pilots if shot down scratched into prison yards and trails.

Clinton gets in office and wants to make Vietnam a favored nation. First they needed to put the whole POW thing to rest.
He appoints a panel headed by John Kerry and John McCain. They see the satelite photos and declare thet it is just shadows and such in the photos. All POW's are declared dead. The rest is history
