How can it not go up with so much positive recovery news?
Warren Buffett standing up for Goldman Sachs, Obama/BP throwing everything at the oil spill, Greece crisis over, NYC terrorist attack overted, consumers spending, housing stabilized, China bubble being controlled.
Unemployment numbers falling.

Not for BP. I expect them to tank. Got in with some put options this morning.

Thanks... I would not be surprised to see the game shift so that the burden of clean up falls onto the taxpayers... but that, I think, is further down the road. Higher oil prices are sure to be baked into this manure cake.

In reality, an event like this is bound to exceed the solvency of BP- all factors considered. If they declare it a terror event, then BP may squeak out clean.

BP is saying they'll pay for clean up:

BP says it will pay for Gulf spill's cleanup

VENICE, La. (AP) -- BP PLC said Monday that it will pay for all the cleanup costs from a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that could continue spewing crude for at least another week.

Meanwhile, chief executive Tony Hayward said Monday that chemical dispersants have worked to some degree to keep oil from flowing to the surface, though he did not elaborate. He said on ABC's "Good Morning America" that the new approach seemed to be having a significant impact.

What toxins are in the "dispersants"? I would rather have the oil float to the surface and clump rather than be dispersed through the whole water, contaminating the bottom as well.

Nice to see them claim responsibility. What is not mentioned here is the cost of business losses- boating, fishing, restaurants, hotels, beaches, etc. Law suits are a cumin.
