Could she put the coins in frames instead of drilling or even soldering on a loop?
I kind of hate seeing gold or silver coins destroyed this way. I realize frames are more expensive than drilling holes but they preserve coins.
I have a Russian imperial 5 rouble coin with a loop soldered on and it`s worth only melt due to the soldering job. If it was in a frame it would have a fat premium.

I love the mercury dime earrings! I would pay for a pair also, if she's making some. I have one request though, could I get them without the beads on the top? I like my earrings shorter. If not, that's ok!

I would love to have the earrings to match my mercury dime necklace.... My favorite necklace. Sister got it for me years ago from a charity online. I don't want the earrings to be cut or smoothed down like the necklace though.

And my husband, Mouse, made me the walking liberty pendant. One of my fave too. Except, when I'm wearing it, he stares at it instead of listening to me :oo-->

My wife just explained "silver saturated glass" to me...went right over my head....and all I can tell you is its got some silver in it....LOL

Silver does some strange stuff with the colors of glass when it is heated. And when it is Heated even more it does more stuff....lol

Hello, and thank you everyone. :)

K-os, silver saturated glass is glass that is made with a lot of silver in it. There are two kinds. Striking silver glass, and reduction silver glass. The silver reacts with the glass and causes color shifting.

The striking silver glass is heated in a neutral to oxygen rich flame and cooled several times to bring out all the rainbow colors.

The reduction glass is flashed through a propane rich flame which brings the silver to the surface and gives the bead a metallic shine. Depending on what glass you're using and how much you reduce it, you can get metallic silvers, golds, purples, greens and blues. Or even a mixture of several colors on one bead which we call the oil slick effect.

It's pretty cool glass, but also very expensive at $100.00 a pound. So I try to use it sparingly... LOL

K-os I understand. I think its cool your not on a planned schedule. What about a rough estimate?

A month? or two maybe?

I think a month or two is a good guess.

Yea that would be fine with me Ken, I wonder which way she will come into Ca. North or South, I bet we will all be driving then. ;)

It's all a mystery. . . even to me ;D

If I get out to CA, I would love to meet up. I would want to cross the Rocky Mountains in the least dangerous place (for an RV), which I have yet to determine.

Can't you go down and go thru oklahoma and straight across west maybe? Better then coming thru Reno, or Utah. I don't know what ever works for you. Are you going to park and sell the rv and buy a plane ticket home?

I wasn't planning on it. But anything could happen. What made you ask that question? Or were you just being funny?

I have driven so much over the years I am getting sick of it, I figured you will have spent so much time on the road you would be done with driving, That's what I would do. The older I get the less I like to drive, In fact when I take the little one to Disneyland I will fly, One hour boom we're there, not 5 hours both ways.

You know in a month or two, there will be lot's of snow/ice on the road, depending on how far north your are...just sayin' ;)

If you are going west between now and next spring in an RV, you will want to go south to Oklahoma and take I-40 across. I-70 through Colorado is a beautiful drive, but it's very steep, and it would really tax your RV. Plus, the pass on I-70 is above the tree line and snowy/icy conditions are typical.

Plus, if you go I-40 you will be following old Route 66.

I know. I don't plan on being up north when the snow starts. But there's a whole lot of country between South Dakota and California.

That's For Sure ;D I was sorta referring to being in a more mountainous region (higher elevation) in a month or two and possibly gettin' caught in it, I'd recommend California, it's a beautiful state and so varied (geographically speaking) such a shame the zombies have taken over and rule most of it.... :D Stay safe ;D

Could the person who is interested in the earrings please PM me and let me know if you're still interested?
Ken told me what you wanted, but I want to make sure I'm clear on it before I make them.

Thanks,

Deb

My wife Is a silver smith. But right now she makes mostly Glass beads (lampwork)

These are silver and the glass beads have silver in them too.

Kinda different...but kinda cool I thought.

I got these exact ear rings in the mail from Ken and his wife,
thanks, they look great, I compared the silver glass beads
to the pic and they are the same, they will make a great gift. ;D

Thanks to Ken and PlaysWithFire.

She flattened out a piece of copper pipe that Zap gave her. Then bent it into a bracelet

Basically, she draws on the copper with a Sharpie then sticks it in swimming pool acid.
The ink from the Sharpie somehow protects the copper while the acid eats the rest. then she puts it in bakeing soda to stop the process. And then she polishes the ink off. :)

(and then antiqued it )
