Always wanted to talk about this phenomena:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1271851/Yob-wins-right-wear-trousers-underwear-judge-said-Asbo-ruling-breach-human-rights.html
I see it every day here in NYC. IMHO these "people" should be executed on the spot.

This is simply fashion.
Fashion is an interesting topic that hasn't been discussed much.
Teenagers and women seem to be more vulnerable to it than men. I remember what I wore in my teens so I can't laugh too loud.
Who decides what is fashionable?
Who are the......FASHION POLICE?
Why can't I find a jacket that simply fits? I don't plan on carrying a regulation sized basketball in each armpit so why must I buy all that extra cloth and carry it around?

It`s not about fashion, it`s about exhibitionism. It`s about challenging the society to try doing something about it.
I can guarantee that anyone dressed like this in USSR would not be able to walk more than 1 block before his skull would be bashed in with a brick or a piece of rebar.

It`s not about fashion, it`s about exhibitionism. It`s about challenging the society to try doing something about it.
That's what the older generation said about tight pants in the sixties. Tight pants were fashion. This is the way Hollywood/fashion industry works, constantly swinging us from one extreme to the other and separating the generations as they do.
What do you think compels kids to wear pants 12 sizes too large and wear them low?
What do you think compelled young men in the sixties to grow long hair and wear sandals?
Of course it's fashion.
Before the days of teevee there was very little fashion and very little contrast between generations.

Crack. It is done to conceal the rapid weight loss.
I`m not suggesting shooting people for fashion statements but I do suggest shooting them on the spot for exhibitionism. I don`t want to see underwear, most people don`t. It`s especially offensive to ladies.
What about another lovely behaviour, constantly grabbing one`s crotch?
I had a student once, a Puerto-Rican boy of about 15. He used to come to lessons with his mom and he accompanied every phrase of his with grabbing his crotch in front of both me and his own mom.
This is another behaviour that would be swiftly alleviated by rebar therapy in the good ole USSR...
And just in case, please spare me accusations of racism. I see white pieces of sh*t doing these things all the time too.

I live in Da Bronx, Da Sagging Pantz Central. You gotta see these creatures, walking around like this, the pants are below buttocks and they make it an art to walk a few yards like this without letting the pants come down completely, they have to adjust them every few seconds because otherwise the pants would end up on the ground.
If it was up to me, I`d make every man wear a suit and a fedora or some kind of a hat. Damn, I`m so conservative.

It's a stupid fashion trend that's been further glamorized by hip-hop and gang culture.
One day I hope that those sheeple will realize and regret the error of their ways but I think it's unlikely.

It`s not dat stupid. In prisons, wearing sagging pants means one wants to be a recipient of anal intercourse.
Every time you see sagging pants, you see a passive homo in search of a top.

who cares... if you don't like the saggy pants look away... I for one am repulsed by attacks on anyone for the length of hair, color of skin, clothes they wear or anything of a personal nature. I have no business worrying about these things. as for seeing butt cracks and such... everyone has one... again who cares? You see I don't concider the human body repulsive in any way. As long as people respect my personal area I will respect theirs, Just my 2 cents.

Really? How about I walk completely naked in front of your wife and daughters? I`m a very proportionate, athletic, relatively young male, pretty well-equipped...
They can look away if they don`t like what they see.

so I walk around naked in front of them??? they would probably laugh at you! :)
Anyway you might want to look in the mirror.... you have some issues with the naked body and see it as somehow offensive?
Offensive to me would be if you were trying to assault someone... or doing something sexual in nature. I guess its fair to say you have never been to a nudist camp or a nudist beach? There its only the pervs that are concerned with the naked people.
Were you not born naked? So why all the adherence to puritanical ideas of right and wrong? Do as you wish as it harms none. And if you say it harms anyone... show me quantitative proof... not just that it offended you... we all have the ability to walk away or ignore things we don't like.

This idiot must have missed the fact that skinny jeans are all the rage now.
Nobody wears their pants like that anymore. Someone needs to hit that kid upside the head and hand him a calandar so he knows it's the year 2010.
What a jackass.

Wear whatever you like. I don't care.
But where else but in a diseased society is it fashionable to wear sagging pants or, if that's not your style, purposefully ripped and torn designer clothes?
It's partly fashion, but it's partly something more.
For example, I can see the fashion aspect of ripped designer jeans, neon belts, retro shoes, etc, seeing how styles change from season to season, but sagging pants are not mere fashion. They've been here a long time, and they're part of a thug sub-culture that includes young people of every race. They wear their sagging pants like a uniform. Fashion plays a role, but there's much more to it: drugs, prison life, street codes, etc.

Yeah, skinny jeans are popular, but sagging jeans are popular as ever, just not as much in the suburbs or among white teenagers.
Depends where you go. The sagging jeans look is still all the rage in many places. AZN thugs, hip hop thugs, mexican thugs, poor white thugs, they still sag and grab their crotches. It's the gang sub-culture. They don't care about mall fashion or what people are wearing in Osaka or Milan. They're looking to score. White suburbia hasn't a clue of the mindset of gangbangers.

What's interesting is that one can buy pants that look like they're sagging, but they come sewn to fake underwear that is worn higher and kept up at normal height. But they give the illusion of sagging pants. ::)

Let`s up the ante. I walk around your family completely naked and I play with my God-given equipement. You may say I`m doing something sexual in nature while I say I`m merely scratching that bodypart.
Have you had enough idiocy for one evening or you can provide us some more?

I take issue with any 'fashion' that is rooted in violence,
I see it, in some cases, not all, as an implicit threat of violence when I see somebody wearing the 'urban gear' crap.
And I find that aspect of it disgusting.
Hare Krisnas have some pretty odd fashion sense, but I do not sense their intent to threaten me with it, so peace be unto them.
It's not really the garb, but the intention behind it.

Ellis Drummond, 18, a violent offender and drug user, faced a ban on the clothing because he was considered to be wearing it in an ‘intimidatory manner’.
Are the Brits really this stupid? They come across as being such wimpy nerds. How do you wear pants in an 'intimidatory manner’? That is just ridiculous. If the punk committed a crime, slam the little crud for that. Claiming he intimidates by wearing pants low is an indicator that idiocracy is the rule in the fallen United Kingdom.

I've long seen this fashion trend as providing me a pretty nice competitive advantage in the mobility department. Then again, I won't even bother to wear shoes I'm not 100% positive I could scale fences and cross rivers on the run in.

Celtic Rogue, I like the way you think.
I don't care what anyone wears or their hairstyle, but sometimes it is entertaining to see it.
In a town nearby they outlawed saggy pants, but anyone with half a brain knew that they did that so that the police would have probable cause to question/search the saggy pants people. Pretty smart, I'd say.
A friend of mine took a picture of the sign that marked the "no saggy pants zone". It's hilarious. I think the law has since been repealed.

Whatever happened to mens shorts? They all look like Capris now. I laugh at these fools and the way they dress.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed that. Guys walking around with Capris and flip-flips... I want to mention to them that they look like women. The worst part is that those capri pants only actually look good on about 1% of the female population that has the perfect body type to fit in them.
As for the pants... kids will always wear what people disapprove of. That's why we get saggy pants and those slim fight jeans. Most young males are not going to look like the teenage males in movies, who, played by 27 year olds, have muscular figures and good haircuts. Teens are gangly or chubby and look silly. So they instead idolize men that they can look like, and any skinny teen can go for the emo look with the super tight jeans, to try to look bigger and tougher with the giant pants and hoodies. Looking gangster is really the only way a fat kid can look cool. When they hear disapproval over their choices, they go further to fit in with their peers that do approve.

You have identified a psychological phenomenon of adolescents.
It's part of the weaning process, they distance themselves from their parents.
This phenomenon has been around as long as mankind.
Before the age of teevee, it was subtle and a short phase in growing up.....hardly even noticed.
Hollywood mass media is acutely aware of this phenomenon and have used to to drive a wedge between generations, thus minimizing the influence of parents.......creating a void to be filled by....guess who? Hollywood/mass media.

Heck, these saggy pants guys ain’t dangerous. In the first place they only have one hand to do damage with, the other is holding up their pants. And secondly, it's impossible to try and run when your pants are hanging that low! They make nice slow targets.
