View Full Version : I know how to FIX the OIL LEAK

It is actually easier than this stupid containment attempt they made.
I know how to stop this thing and it is real easy. I can't believe they let it go this long!!!
They need to make an umbrella cap that they drive down the well after cutting clean the old riser pipe. Once the umbrella in its closed position is driven to the end of the 18,000 foot well, it opens and pulls back sealing the well at the source.
The umbrella and pipe must be less than 3" in diameter in the closed position in order for it to be forced with power against the oil flow. It will take alot of force to do this.
Assuming the oil pressure at the reservoir is 20,000 psi, and worst case- the closed umbrella cap is 3" diameter, that is a 7 square inch surface area..... 140,000 pounds of force. That is 70 tons behind that pipe driving it down. A portion of that weight will largely be from its own mass.
It is possible with this method to cap the well, fix it, and actually make it safely productive.

Your umbrella will become frozen and not open just like the valve of the recent failed attempt.
That thing is gonna ooze for months.

No. The temperature in the reservoir is quite high and the pressure will prohibit freezing.
It is not "oozing" but blasting out like a volcano of oil right now.

Biloxi, Mississippi (CNN) -- The effort to place a containment dome over a gushing wellhead was dealt a setback when a large volume of hydrates -- crystals formed when gas combines with water -- accumulated inside of the vessel, BP's chief operating officer said Saturday.
Gas hydrates are lighter than water, and as a result, made the dome buoyant, Doug Suttles said. The crystals also blocked the top of the dome, which would prevent oil from being funneled to a drill ship.

I have a better ideal , think of the problem in a medical way .
Mother Earth needs to have a catheter inserted , balloon inflated and start collecting the flow.
Look , problem solved .
Also , Obamacare will pay for it since it's a medical problem , right ?

A 100 ton cap the size of a house was lowered over the open wellhead left by the fatal oil rig accident on April 20, 2010.
BP lowered the dome last night in attempt to capture the funnel of crude oil that has been pouring into the Gulf of Mexico for the past 19 days at a rate of approximately 210,000 gallons a day.
However, the mission failed and the dome had to be removed today. Ice crystals had formed on the unit in the cold 5,000 foot deep waters, which would have rendered the dome ineffective.
BP Chief Operating Office Doug Suttles tried to inject a glimmer of hope for eventual success at a press conference today. He said, “I wouldn’t say it’s failed yet. What we attempted to do last night didn’t work because these hydrates were a problem.â€
Suttles added that it would take two days to evaluate the problem, but did not say if another attempt would be made to close the well with the dome.
HUNDRED TONS........................floated. This is no easy fix at a mile below the surface.

That is BS. The ice crystals did not make a 120 ton crate bouyant. I calculated the pressure on this thing and determined it would fail merely by oil flow.

You still think your umbrella gizmo would actually open up against the pressure and "crystal" forming interference?

Once you push the umbrella check valve assembly into the open reservoir, there is NO flow. It is stagnant there. Push it out 5o extra feet. It is hot there. No crystals. No flow. Open it up and pull it back. It can have a rivot-like action from a coaxial pipe.
