Financial capital rules world, not governments: Fidel Castro
HAVANA, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro said on Saturday that the ecological disaster caused by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico shows "how little can governments do against those who control the capital."
"The ecological disaster which occurred in the Gulf of Mexico shows how little can governments do against those who control financial capital," Castro said in his article published by the local media, adding "The hateful tyranny imposed on the world."
The explosion at an oil rig of the British Petroleum in the Gulf of Mexico nearly a week ago, killed 11 people and sparked what the experts consider the worst environmental disaster in the history of the U.S. oil industry.
According to the former Cuban leader, these companies are those "who decide the fate of peoples" from the United States and Europe through "the economy in our globalized world."
About 800,000 liters of oil are polluting the waters of the Gulf of Mexico since April 22 due to the collapse of an oil platform of British Petroleum (BP). U.S. President Barack Obama has described it as "national catastrophe."
Castro says he believes that U.S. President Barack Obama is not responsible for the "current threats to the survival of the human being imposed on the world by imperialism."
"Obama ignores reality and cannot or does not want to overcome it, he rather dreams unreal things in a dream world," Castro says.
