Guest Post: New Kitco DEM Page Lets Rumors About Germany Abandoning the Euro Fly (http://www.zerohedge.com/article/guest-post-new-kitco-dem-page-lets-rumors-about-germany-abandoning-euro-fly#comment-346762)
Submitted by The Prudent Investor
A web page of precious metals prices provider Kitco.com has sparked rumors that Germany will leave the Eurozone and reintroduce German Marks, sending gold to a new record of $1,244 and silver to a multi-year high of $19.64.
It is this half-ready page shown below that has created excitement as it lists precious metals in Deutschmark units.
German website Silber.de had another market-sparkling comment from a forum participant who said goldprice.org has reintroduced a DEM option since about a week. Check it out here.
And there is still more material feeding the rumour. German leftist politician Gregor Gysi announced on TV that there may be an important announcement to be made on Friday. The video below is in German.
In a literal translation Gysi did not say that Germany will reintroduce the Mark but made a curiosity-inspiring statement, saying that there may be some very important news that will be announced on Friday.
The hottest trail can be found at website godlikeproductions.com. A poster claiming to be an employee of Deutsche Bank wrote that the bank received a container full with new German Marks banknotes and coins. He wrote he will publish a picture of the new Marks on Thursday morning. He also said the currency change would happen this weekend with German chancellor Angela Merkel scheduled to give a speech to the nation on Friday evening.
As we see the rapid destruction of the next fiat currency - all of them have failed in the past 3 centuries - rocketing precious metals prices prove once more there is no other safe haven when the going gets really tough.

GLP can be all over the place as far as a solid source of info goes ..
Digging around a bit - from 4 May 2010, getting ready for the Greece vote :
Bundesbank has already started printing the new DeutschMark :
http://www.freie-allgemeine.de/artikel/news/finanz-experte-bundesbank-druckt-bereits-neue-d-mark/
google translate does a good job, but I cant cut and paste from the result - it includes the original Auf Deutsch, plus the Englander ubersetzen side by side, so thats too confusing. Im sure Joseph Sechs Litres could follow, but its easier to click yourself and read it in plain English ;)

Since the euro banknotes, which are in circulation look like, not worn as the FIAT-bills in recent years (decades), can there be for this contract really only two occasions:
- Either the preparation for a coming hyperinflation, so that the people can be kept quiet with plenty of printed paper
- Or preparation for the collapse of the EURO, and the production of a national currency.
Only pay for both the 'guarantor of federal' the bill.

Germany is a Avery productive and inventive nation and they should go on their own.........who the hell wants to carry excess baggage?
The only mistake that I have seen Germany do is selling-giving those four subs to the state of Israel............for how long will the world pay for something that never happened?

Or more specifically Tavistock? :) There are people who are not controlled who post there. The funny thing is that if you post that Christians do not fight against the government, you get banned. That kind of talk is apparently not allowed at GLP.

and i might add, DO NOT post the word TAVISTOCK on GLP, instant autoban. GLP is a good place to get breaking stories as the membership is massive. you just have to wade through the BS to get them. and ALWAYS vet them yourself, its a pit of snakes and rats.

My impression when I looked at the Kitco "Deutsche" page is that this is just old code still on the web server from when there was still a Mark. If you click another currency icon, it takes you to a current page without the "DM" icon. I bet it gets cleaned up soon.
This is not to say Germany won't return to Marks. It's already been addressed on other web sites why they should and why the first Euro country to go native wins BIG and the rest lose.

The best move would be to introduce Deutsch Marke alongside the Euro, and then let the latter disintegrate.

Doesn't look like it. That was a dead end, apparently. All of it is pretty shaky to be truthful, but there has been a lot of talk of ending the euro lately.

News to expect in the coming days and weeks:
Greece defaults
Germany protects German banks but other countries cannot do the same thus quickly provoking multiple sovereign defaults and or bank failures, all of which may easily lead to a payments crisis in the global banking system. Derivatives are particularly at risk in terms of operation and execution.
The Euro falls in value especially against the US dollar
The Germans announce they are re-introducing the Deutschmark. They have already ordered the new currency and asked that the printers hurry up.
The Euro falls even more on any news that Germany is withdrawing from the Euro.
Legal wrangling begins as to the legality of Germany’s decision. Resolution takes years.
Germany insists that the Euro continues to exist even they do not use it any longer. They emphasize that European unification will continue and suggest new legal instruments to strengthen European Unification including new EU Treaties.

Great article. Folks click on the link and read all of it!
Greece, just voted to put the new real estate tax on the electric bill. My bet is that the sales of lamp oil is going to increase very quickly in Greece. They will not pay, and Greece will come to a total standstill, Germany may leave the Euro at this point, or sooner or later, it will not take long though. And that is the end of the Euro...
Or...
Greece, and any other country among the PIIGS, that cannot pay its debts, will be forced to leave the Euro, at the rate they went in, and they can do a 'soft' default, by inflating their national currency, and the Euro will be saved, the populations of the remaining Euro countries, could then go traveling in the South Europe with their strong currency and write post cards home about how cheap everything is, just like they did 20-30 years ago...
The postcard will probably arrive about 3 weeks after coming back home though, if at all...
I think it is more likely Greece, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Ireland will be forced out of the Euro, rather than Germany voluntarily leaves... The Euro would collapse immediatelly without Germany, it would strengthen without the PIIGS!
