The Constitution of the United States; circa 1787

Article IV

Section 2.

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities
of Citizens in the several States.

A Person charged in any State with Treason, Felony, or other Crime, who shall
flee from Justice, and be found in another State, shall on demand of the
executive Authority of the State from which he fled, be delivered up, to be
removed to the State having Jurisdiction of the Crime.

Wouldn't the act of harbouring those that have broken the law of a border state by entering the US illegally by cities like San Francisco, or New York City be in violation of the constitution?

Thoughts?

I don't know if they would be in violation of the constitution, but like I said in another thread, states like Arizona should buy the illegals bus tickets these sanctuary cities and give them directions on how to get to the government services office once they are there.

You are correct in your analysis. the "Immigrant" if having illegally entered the country, is a criminal, and these "sanctuary" cities are aiding and abetting criminals. BUT the FEDs wont enforce it, thats what the AZ law is about. If I were a State attorney General, Id prosecute city officials every time an illegal is found to be receiving city services and especially if the city assisted them in obtaining state services. Entering the country illegally is illegal in and of itself.

That paragraph talks about people who have been charged with a crime and then flee to another state to avoid trial or punishment.

Now if an illegal committed a crime in Arizona, posted bail, and then high-tailed it to New Mexico, then that paragraph would apply.

If you meant giving welfare and food stamps to people who have entered the country illegal would be illegal then yes, but the state giving the benefits or harbouring them would need to know they are indeed illegal. That's where fake social security cards and driver's licenses come in.

& yes the concept of "sanctuary cities" is illegal because sanctuary cities are not supposed to trump U.S. laws.
