my best neighbors are Hispanic immigrants.

one runs a landscape business and works harder than most gringo's.

the other is a family of 4. both parents work hard.

these are the people i count on to keep an eye on my place when i'm not here.

admittedly, i got lucky. i looked at a lot of apartments & lived in apartments with neighbors who were a lot harder to live with (most of them were yuppies).

and, certainly, given that there are places in town that are high-crime and predominantly Hispanic, i understand how the general population could be tired of that combination.

but to really tackle crime in American, the place to focus is Washington and Wall Street. i agree that racial profiling works. as it turns out, the ethnicity of most Washington and Wall Street criminals is Jewish. which doesn't mean that all Jews are criminals - just that we need to be observant and not PC about our honest observations.
