Right on, I agree. Wilhelm Reich was a genius and was not taken seriously enough by the public and too seriously by the government. His books scared the crap out of the people at the top. What's funny is that he had a policy of complete disclosure towards the government - he gave them advance notice of every discovery. No wonder he was put in jail and all of his books were burned.

Reich was Sigmund Frued's brightest student, but instead of studying the mind on a purely subjective level, he did many experiments which advanced our understanding of electromagnetism and other forces which are at work within the brain.

He also detailed several easy and cheap methods through which the the brain could be made stronger, more stable, and more all-encompassing, which is why he died in a government prison.

Reich may have referred to these concepts by different names 'in public' (although his pubished works were frank and open, and hardly 'private'), but only for the fact that he knew how people would react to the term 'orgasmotherapy'. Reich's crowning discovery was that the orgasm was the body's method of regulating biological energy, and furthermore that all his patients with psychological problems exhibited orgastic impotence. I can't comment on Freud because I am not familiar with his work to any great degree, but you haven't read any of Reich's work, have you? Yes he worked with perversion because that's what his patients presented with, but he did not support any of the perversions you mention. He aimed (and in some cases was successful) to cure these perversions by resolving the underlying emotional trauma. As to being a 'jew', I have no idea what religion he was born into, but he spoke out about mysticism and the terrible effect it had on people's life. He understood exactly what 'The Devil' was from his work with schizophrenics. Given his grounded outlook and hatred of mysticism, how could he be considered a Jew?
