Bitch slap number one: U.S. Vice President Joe Biden is in Israel trying to restart the Palestinian/Israeli peace talks. While in Israel the Israeli government announces its plan to build 1,600 apartments for Jews in Palestinian East Jerusalem. This allegedly outrages Biden and the Obama administration. How can they appear to be working for peace in the Middle East when Israel, who they say has a “special relationship†with the U.S., publicly announces further plans of stealing more land from the Palestinians in East Jerusalem?
Bitch slap number two: While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was visiting Barack Obama at the White House on March 23, 2010, the Israeli government announces its plan to build an additional 20 Jewish homes in Palestinian East Jerusalem. By now Obama is too battered to respond.
As U.S. politicians allow Israel to run roughshod over their stated policies and goals, in this case pretending to be an unbiased broker of peace in the Middle East, other nations are taking notice of the weakness displayed by the U.S. through its politicians. After seeing how easy it is for Israel to publicly humiliate the U.S., Communist China may feel like exercising more control over its debtor, the U.S., in regards to economic issues. As in all creditor/debtor relationships, China as the creditor has a lot of leverage over its debtor, the U.S.
What is mind-boggling is that Israel has absolutely no leverage over the United States. In fact, the opposite is true; the U.S. has leverage over the Jewish state. For example, U.S. politicians take from American tax payers every year and give directly to Israel enough cash to pay for 20 percent of Israel’s military budget! With that kind of leverage you’d think U.S. politicians would demand that Israel return to its pre-1967 borders which would go a very long way in bringing peace to the region. If the United States actually took such meaningful action, it would let the Islamic world know Obama was serious about change in his address to the Muslim world and at the same time it would virtually cripple al Qaeda’s ability to recruit.
One of the reasons for Israel’s unbalanced and unnatural “special†relationship with the U.S. is the ingrained belief in ancient Hebrew mythology as presented in the Bible. As the story goes, a story the ancient Hebrews wrote themselves, God chose the Hebrews/Jews to be his chosen people who are “above all people that are upon the face of the earth†(Deuteronomy 7:6) and that any nation that will not serve Israel “shall be utterly wasted†(Isaiah 60:12).
There are literally millions of people in the United States alone who actually believe these ridiculous Biblical claims. For example, the Christian Zionist John Hagee tirelessly promotes Israel over all to his millions of faithful and politically active followers. He even has a page on his site explaining why we need to support the Jewish state of Israel.
Not to be outdone, Pat Robertson wrote an article which says that the land of Israel is a gift from God to the Jewish people. If you believe this, then any attempt to restrict the expansion of Israel to its Biblical borders which includes most of present day Syria and extends all the way down to Cairo, Egypt, is opposition to God.
Netanyahu plays the Biblical/we are God’s chosen people card to Israel’s advantage and to the detriment of the rest of the world. Regarding Jewish expansion onto Palestinian lands in East Jerusalem he said, "The Jewish people were building Jerusalem 3,000 years ago and the Jewish people are building Jerusalem today. Jerusalem is not a settlement. It is our capital." So what. Does that mean Italy should occupy and destroy Israel and Jerusalem since they did that about 2,000 years ago?

Why doesn’t Obama demand Israel comply with U.N. Security Council Resolution 478 which requires Israel to stop its occupation of Jerusalem and return to its pre-1967 borders?
