OK, so today I just ordered some 1 oz Sunshine Silver bars at APMEX.com

I select "bank wire" for method of payment.

The directions tell me to wire the flo to "JP Morgan Chase Bank."

I'm like... WTF!!!??? :o :o :o

Isn't JP Morgan the firm that is shorting silver like crazy?

Now I'm all paranoid and trippin' about my purchase of silver from the DEVIL's minions.

Should I cancel my order and buy the 10 ounces elsewhere? ;D

Hmmmm............Is APMEX is sleeping with the enemy? Seems that way to me but would it be any different if APMEX used another bank to do the wire transfers? Aren't all big banks the enemy of silver?

Yeah, they're in Oklahoma and used to use an Oklahoma Bank.

Now they're with JP Jorgan Chase Bank in NEW YORK CITY.

Anyone who works with JP Morgan Chase is not our friend...nor do they deserve our business.

Thanks for letting us know. That's where I've ordered most of my sliver from in the past. Where can I order from now? Who to trust?

It's all FED credit, no different who it comes from really. All banks and credit unions are branches of the FED tree.

JP Morgan Chase gets a bigger cut if they are the first intermediary.

I don't trust anyone who banks with a criminal operation like JPMC. There's dozens of local or regional institutions in Oklahoma City who could handle APMEX's needs, but they choose the worst possible one on the entire planet.

I buy most of my silver locally at coin shows and local coin dealers. I used to buy silver from APMEX but I quit buying from them because I am a silver art bar collector that is looking for specific silver art bars. The last time that I bought anything from APMEX was in Summer 2008. I did not know anything about APMEX doing business with JPM until today. That is news to me.

Yeah. That's the first I heard of that too. I really liked buying from APMEX.

I have bought a few items from APMEX, always a good transaction.

However, I don't think I can continue buying from them if they bank with JP Morgan Chase.

It's a shame.

This came out a while back on the old site. Along with that they've moved into the old OK City Federal building.

Thanks for the heads up. I think the local coin shops are often a better deal. However, mine rarely has bullion in. A friend finally bought an open box of SAE from tulvin* and shared some at cost with a few locals. That was good. Would be nice if we could trust the members enough to do a group buy....

Yeah, I now remember that was posted on GIM1.

They moved into the old Federal Reserve building in Oklahoma City right?

I'm cancelling my order and buying somewhere else...

I'm only offered coins with Queen's head on them here, do they let you own eagles, or krugs over there?

GIM rounds is a tight market. If you hold them you should get rid of them. They are cursed. No dealer will touch them, they are scourge. I don't know why, but we can all guess.

If people send theirs to me I will have any GIM curses removed and I will make sure the rounds cause no more masonic harm. And I'll even do it without charging the usual fee - just cause I love you guys so much.

I'm in particular need of 2007 samples to help balance my anti-masonic deconverginator. They're the most dangerous as they've been around the longest and have built up the biggest charges.

well, you could go with Bank of the West, or another division of BNP Paribas. they probably have banks all over the US.

i gave them a try on a recommendation. they (bank of the west) were running a scam. they offer 4% on the phone for new accounts.

but it's only for 30 or 90 days, i forget.

what i do remember is how disgusted i felt, at Bank of the West's dishonesty.

You said it, Jedem. I was just going to post about how we were forced to reveal our personal identity and link it with our username, in order to buy our rounds.

What a sucker I am. I did it twice, and both times I remember thinking "This could be data mining, but I doubt it, because the GIM founders stand for everything I stand for"....

I believe Kitco is in the process of revamping their payment policy to make it easier/more accessable and less complicated.

They have lost thousands of dollars of business with me, due to their current policies, but their marketing department contacted me and conducted a customer satisfaction interview with me, and I made it clear that they need to "get in the know" with their payment options.

When they do finally implement the new payment policy, I wil be ordering from them to celebrate.

Anyways, if you don't mind meeting their current stipulations for making payment (https://online.kitco.com/sellprice/Ordr_Faq.htm), you should consider them. All my experience with Kitco has been positive up to this point.

Chase took over a lot of local banks in 2008 (and 2009?). I know some people where I live had their bank changed, and suddenly they are banking with Chase. I see a lot of Chase signs popping up. One bank they gobbled was pretty big, but I can't remeber its name.

Washington Mutual (WaMu)?

speaking of tinfoil at APMex, i notice that when they run out of bullion products, the implied shortage tends to be an inducement to buying.

so, i can't help but wonder if they reduce stated inventory or hold coins back to give people the motive to buy.

in conclusion, i know some un-ethical businesses (Goldman Sachs) would do things like this, but i don't think APMex does.

I actually ordered more silver coins from them today. (Actually my husband ordered and wrote out the check before I had a chance to research other places.) Their prices did seem better and we have ordered from them before with no problems.

I closed my WaMu account the day after the FDIC announced the controlled demolition of Washington Mutual. That was only a tertiary, ubiquitous, "easy-access" account. My primary institution has always been local.

IIRC, APMEX moved from a local Oklahoma bank to Chase.

The only time that I would order from APMEX would be if they were selling any '70's silver art bars that I was looking to collect for a decent premium over spot.

Check out the GSUS-Apmex Precious Metals Retail Supply Index (http://gold-silver.us/forum/gold-silver-precious-metals/apmex-precious-metals-retail-supply-index/)

Just before noon, I saw they were down almost 2700 1 ozt. gold coins, then afternoon they replenished.

"May 20th, 11:17AM PST

Gold: 995 diff = -2,672 (-72.9%)...

Talk about buying on the dip! 2672 ounces of gold (mainly eagles) sold yesterday.
Premiums down a bit, too.

NOTE: At 1:53 PM PST it is up to 2174. They just added some Gold Eagles."

Yeah Mick I am always looking for silver art bars that are on my "wish list". Unfortunately for me, I will have to wait until my next paycheck to look for more silver art bars since I am "FRN Challenged" at the moment. I think that APMEX probably has some silver art bars but they are probably mixed in with their other .999 generic silver and I do not want to buy "blindly" at APMEX. The shipping charges would be big % for me because I am a "small" buyer of silver.

I have a few that I won at drawings on a bid board. After closing the owner would give out prizes based on tickets you got. This was the late 80s and silver was $4-5 and ozt. He used to give away art bars and rounds, as well as Franklin Mint and other sterling medals (plus some base metal coins, but hey, it's free).

The Franklin Mint was not too bad for someone that liked sterling silver art. I also think that the Hamilton Mint minted some sterling silver art bars (1000 grain size) in 1974 but I will have to check my silver art bar guide on that. A vast majority of the Hamilton Mint bars were .999 1-oz silver art bars that were minted in the '70's. APMEX and other major online bullion dealers more than likely would have those bars in their .999 generic bullion inventory because the Hamilton Mint bars had a large mintage of 10,000 per bar.

I prefer .999 silver art bars over sterling silver art bars. I guess I am just a silver art bar "snob". ;D
